To the Garden Path with Tara McWhirter

The natural way Garden Path products are made with natural ingredients like alfalfa, coconut oil, coffee, and aloe vera, to name a few. MacWhirter can often be found at the Vankleek Hill Farmers’ Market selling her products and talking with people who pass by. Her products are available at several local businesses including Beau’s Brewery, which carries the Beer Suds soap, a natural soap made with, you guessed it, beer.

Tara MacWhirter never thought such a wonderful hobby would turn into a fabulous business. “I just thought it was a cool gift,” said MacWhirter. “Then the hobby became full time. Once I started, I didn’t want to go back.” Garden Path Homemade Soap began in 2009 when a friend introducedMacWhirter to the world of homemade soaps. She started making soaps for family and friends. The popular product quickly became more than just a cool gift.

As far as where she will end up in the future, MacWhirter says it’s anyone’s guess. “I love what I am doing for now,” said MacWhirter. “If I am still doing this in 5 or 10 years, that’s
