Meet Our New Dance Instructor... Miss Jessica Swanson! Jessica’s love for dance started at the American Dance Center at the age of 4. Jessica studied Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Modern. She was also a cheerleader and has always enjoyed creating choreography.
Pre-Ballet Ages 3-5 An introduction to the basic steps and positions. Students will learn a fun song and dance routine while being introduced to basic ballet concepts, body alignment and also develop confidence through creative movement. Jessica received her BA in English and MA in Organizational Leadership, Training and Development. She loves to sew and read and enjoys spending her time with her husband, 3-year- old son, and 2-year-old daughter. She is thrilled to be a part of the Dance Program here at the Lemont Park District and can’t wait to meet you! Dance with Me! Ages 1-3 This class is an introduction to the exciting world of dance and movement through activities that encourage expression, music appreciation, and creative fun. These classes are structured to stimulate coordination, balance, music interpretation, motor development, and creative movement. Basic dance moves are introduced in a fun and positive atmosphere. A parent or caregiver must be present for all classes. Attire: Adults, comfortable clothing and gym shoes. Children, comfortable clothing and ballet shoes or gym shoes. Dancers will learn creative movements through fun music, cute choreography, and fun props. As they are being introduced to ballet, they will develop grace and confidence. Ballet shoes or socks with a no-slip grip required. Lyrical Grades 5 th & Up Lyrical combines ballet and jazz techniques and is often influenced by other styles of dance. This dance style helps the dancer express themselves through movement, often expressing different emotions to songs with lyrics from different genres. DANCE PROGRAM INFORMATION Dance Watching: Parents are welcome to observe classes March 25 th - March 28 th
Recital Costumes: Recital costumes are $80.00 and must be purchased at the front desk no later than February 10, 2024. Shoes: Dance shoes are required for all dance classes, with the exception of hip-hop. Gym shoes are permitted for hip- hop and Poms classes.
