The Soul-Winner’s Gospel “These things a re w ritten th a t ye m ight believe th a t Jesu s is th e Christ, th e Son of God; and th a t, believing, ye m ig h t have life th rough H is nam e.’’ (John 2 0 :3 1 ). T hat the Gospel of John is the evangelistic Gospel and was w ritten for th e specific purpose of soul-w inning is at once app aren t from th e verse quoted above in which John gives his reasons for w riting it. That the Gospel of Jo h n is the soul-w inner’s Gospel is being effec tively dem onstrated by th e Church of th e Open Door where a continuous revival is in progrèss th rough th e use of th is Gospel in th e various activi ties of th e Church and Sunday School, th e classes in the Main School (including th e large Men’s and Women’s C lasses), the Home Depart ment, th e Week Day Bible Classes (over 200 being conducted for chil dren of P rim ary and Jun io r ag e), and the Cradle Roll; th e en tire en rollm ent exceeding 8000 and constantly growing. Over four hundred of th e ad u lt members of th e church are actively engaged in w o rk in these different departm ents. Best of all, the num ber of conversions from th is work in 1922 reached a to tal of seventeen hundred and forty six! Every BelieveraForeignMisàaiy The fact th a t every believer is a foreign m issionary is constantly stressed, th e proof being found in John 17:6, 8: “ I have manifested thy name unto th e men which, thou gavest me ou t of the world. * * * As thou hast sent me into th e world, even so have I also sent them into th e world. If our Lord wâs the first, foreign m issionary sent by the F ath e r from Heaven to a lost world, it therefore follows, logically, th a t every saved sinn er is also a foreign m issionary from1Heaven to a lost world, for “A s’He is, so are we in this world” (1 John 4 :1 7 ). Therefore, th e believer does not need a special call to be a mission ary. He is a m issionary. Recognizing th is fact, and believing th a t the Gospel of John is effective when used for th e purpose for which it was w ritten, th è Sunday School of the Church of th e Open Door has h ad a steady and healthy growth, the resu lts of which have been incorporated in an attractively illu strated booklet which will be cheerfully inailed upon application to A. J. Johnson, Church Secretary, 565 S. Hope Street, Los Angeles, California.
