T H E K I N G ’S B U S I N E S S will not have flesh and blood, hu t it w ill have flesh and bones; hence it will not be pure sp irit (50; Lk. 24 :39 ). (9) It will be a changed body (51, 52). (10) It. will be incorruptible and im m ortal (53 ). . Hence it will be victo rious over sin, death, and th e gravé (54-57). It will be in every way an improvement over the old body. (13) the ground to aw ait the resurrection. The sp irit of the Christian goes im mediately to heaven, a place of con scious happiness in the presence of God, “w ith Christ” (Eccl. 12:7; Acts 7:59; 2 ‘Cor. 5:6, 8; Phil. 1:21-24). It is thought by many th a t during this time thei sp irit has some sort of a body but not th e resurrection body. This is quite possible. The sp irit of the un saved goes immediately to hades, a place of conscious punishm ent (Lk. 16:22- 24). Likewise he also may have some so rt of body. —H. S. Miller. RISEN— THEREFORE COMING “Ye tu rn ed to God from idols to serve th e living and tru e God; and to w ail for his Son from heaven, WHOM HE RAISED PROM THE DEAD. The Christian life is summed up in th e words “SERVING” and “WAIT ING.” Here we have the practical and th e ideal aspects, of the sp iritu al life, and th e re cannot be perfect balance w ithout both. He waits best who serves best, and to serve w ithou t th e con sciousness th a t He may come back in such an hour as we th ink not, is to lose both the g reatest incentive to ser vice and holy living, and one of th e g reatest sp iritual joys. These words are from P au l’s earliest epistle, w ritten to new converts. The doctrine of Christ’s retu rn is therefore elementary. It is th e teaching to be given young converts as a safeguard against backsliding and as a means of

But what is,ou r w arran t for our hope of H is personal retu rn ? “God raised- H im from th e dead.” Here is the proof of His divine Sonship and of th e au tho r ity of all th e promises th a t He made. “He is risen AS HE SAID,” He will also come again AS HE SAID. His resurrection, which is one of th e best authenticated facts in history, is the: seal of His whole message—the seal of; the whole, apostolic message. God “will judge th e world in rig h t eousness by th a t man whom he hath ordained; whereof he h ath given as surance unto all men, in th a t he hath RAISED HIM FROM, THE DEAD” (Acts 1 7 :31 ). ; —K. L. B. : MS MS THE DOUBLE STANDARD Gene S tratton P o rter, the author, has, th is sensible and much-needed word on th e double standard .of literatu re and life? “ It is difficult for me to understand why indecencies th a t would not be per- > m itted in life, and characters th a t would not be adm itted into a home or a fam ily circle in person on any consideration, should' be allowed to come th ere be tween th e covers of a book. Why sh o u ld men and women be allowed to ip c atter broadcast on the pages of a book fesuch m a tte r as the Federal authorities would not allow for a m inute on the pages of a letter? . . . No statis tics are available to prove how many girls and boys have formed wrong con- ' ceptions of life and the real purposes of living through having had books filled w ith p ru rien t descriptions and sug gestive and in tim ate descriptions of men and women living illegally and im morally.”
