Reading on in th is wonderful chapter, we showed him how he could be born when he was old, and w ith a sigh of relief, he said, “Now I can go in peace.” H is F avo rite Hymn V isiting him later, he asked us to bring his favorite song, and we pu t it down here, th a t others m ight see how a person feels who has lived w ithout Christ seventy-three years, and then, upon a dying bed, has been saved. This is what we sang to him: “ I ’ve wandered far away from God, Now I’m coming home, The paths of sin too long I’ve trod, Now I ’m coming home. I’ve wasted many a precious year, Now I ’m coming home, I now repent w ith b itter tears, Now I ’m coming home. About ten o’clock the next day we called to see him and were ushered in immediately, w ith th e words, “He is so anxious to see you.” As we entered, a hand was stretched out to welcome us, and we said, “We ju st slipped in to see if we could do anything for you and perhaps cheer you, as you lie here on th is bed of pain. W hat would you like to have us do?” F o r a moment th ere was silence; then w ith a quivering voice he said, “ Please, if you could pray for me.” Opening our Bible, we told him we would be glad to pray for him* but before we did so, we would like to read him a few verses from the Bible. Turn ing to th e th ird chapter of John, we read him a few verses, and as we read about the new birth, th a t old man of seventy- th ree years, said, “T h at’s it, th a t’s it.
