didn’t you give me th a t before? I understand th a t, and I w ant to te ll you how sorry I am th a t I talked th e way I did about God. Let me tell you how I feel now. If He w ants to heal me, He can; and if not, it’s all rig h t; nd if He wants me to die tonight its all rig h t.” She said, “ I ’m sure you have the th in g ” , to which he answered “ I know -it.” He said his name was “RED,” and he looked so dejected th a t th e hospital visitor sat down to ta lk w ith him. No father, no m o th e r;'h e had been a news boy; was not twenty, and had had only fourth grade schooling. He knew there was no chance for him in life; and expected to die in th e County hospital. He took Christ as bis Saviour and ten days later sta rted to a private Christian school in the fifth grade w ith th e little fellows. Red is now th e hero of the school. ■ She Couldn’t Escape In one of the homes where a Bible class is held th e re came to visit an eastern friend for whom much prayer had been offered. When asked to a t tend the Bible Class she emphatically declared and announced her intention of spending the night w ith another friend in order to avoid the meeting. Much disappointm ent was felt bu t earnest prayer on her behalf was con tinued. Time for th e class arrived and w ith it th e unw illing guest who told the following rem arkable story: She had gone to her friend ’s house only to find a p arty being given for which she was no t suitably dressed. She therefore left, determ ining to eat down town, and th ere tak e a stree t car ride until after th e class was over, re tu rn ing later to her hostess. , She boarded a car and it took her right- to th e corner where she could get off to go to the Bible Class, so she went back down town and took a car going in a dif feren t direction. Much to her irrita tion th is brought her to th e identical corner. Vowing she wouldn’t be drag ged to any old E ible Class against her will, she again went down town, took still another line and arrived ju st a block from th e same fatal corner. De ciding she m ight as well bow to the inevitable, she gave in, came to the class, an d received, a real) blessing T ruly th e Bible Woman proves w ith joy th a t the things which are impos sible w ith man are possible w itth God.
EGINNING the work in th e fall one of the Bible women asked th e Lord to show h er how she could help th e members of th e classes to lead souls to th e Lord Jesu s Christ. Very vividly before her m ind came th e suggestion th a t each woman be given a copy of Dr. H orton’s leaflet entitled “The K ing’s Message” in which th e love of God and th e way of salvation are so clearly set forth. Accordingly each one was asked to ta k e th e message and before the close of th e year to re tu rn it to the Bible woman, signed by some one whom she had led to Christ. Now God was, as He always is, working things tog ether for th e salva tion of a soul. Away back in the state of Missouri, in th e sta te penitentiary, was a man 'who had a t one tim e lived in th e same town w ith a member of one of th e classes, and the Lord laid this man, in his lost condition, upon h er heart. Talking w ith a friend one day about him, she said, “ I wonder if any one has ever tried to help th e prisoner who had served his term in Sing Sing, who had been associated w ith the younger Jesse Jam es gang, and was now paying th e penalty for other crimes.” The Sunday School class were backing up her work by prayer. This was in th e early summer. In September the leaflet was placed in her hands, and soon, w ith one or two other tracts, it began its journey to th e prisoner. God did the work, and ju st before Thanksgiving came a le tte r bear ing th e glad news th a t th e man had accepted Christ. A soul had been born anew, and th e re was joy in the presence of the angels of God over a sinner re penting. A glad thanksgiving on. earth too. Message F rom th e K ing “ Yes, I am of th e same m ind th a t I was th e o th er two tim es I was here in the hospital,” said a boy who had been dealt w ith faithfully, and th ere seemed nothing more to be done. However, he called th e hospital visitor to him one day, and said, “ I ’ve got it figured out. There is something in it. .1 don’t know what it is bu t I haven’t got it.” She saw th a t th e Holy Spirit was a t work, so left one of Mr. H orton’s leaflets, “A Message from th e K ing” , w ith him. Shortly afte r th is interview he retu rned th e leaflet to her, signed, saying, “Why
