the day is coming when the knowledge of th e Lord shall cover th e earth (Ps. 72:10; 2 :8 ; Phil. 2 :9 - ll) B - D r . I. M. Haldeman in “How to Study th e Bible.”. Joseph Forgiving H is B rothers. Gen. 37:3-28; 45:1-15. Memory Verse.—-“Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven o-ur debtors.” Matt?;,. 6:12. Approach.— I am going to tell you about a picture I saw in a home a few weeks past. It was not a picture hang ing on the wall, but a living picture, acted out on th e BEGINNERS floor in a room. A AND PRIMARY little b ro th er and Mabel L. Merrill sister were playing w ith some toys, and were having such a good tim e together. Then something happened which seemed to spoil th e picture, for the little brother, who was older th an his sister, reached over and snatched a book from his sis te r’s hand. I say snatched for he did not tak e it gently. Then little sister, who was only four years old, began to cry. The mother of the little children did not say a word but ju st looked at the little boy. Then the picture changed again into a most beautiful one, for th e little boy went over fo sis te r and handed the picture book back to her, and told her he was sorry, and asked little sister if she would love him again. Then they kissed each other and went on playing nicely together. This was a home where they love Jesus, and the mother had ta u g h t them to love Jesus. All the little boy needed when h e'fo rgo t and -let Satan lead him to do wrong, was a look from mother. You see he really asked sister to forgive him. Prayer. Lesson Story.— Clara, can you tell me what you can remember about the g reat man Abraham , whom we heard about last week? The rest be ready to tell us if she does not remember. Now, boys and girls, you know th a t helps me to tell th is story to-day, for you have told th is story back to me so well,

1 know you listened well. To-day we are to h ear about Joseph, th e g reat grandson of Abraham . Joseph was a good boy in the home and always obeyed his parents, and was a helpful boy wherever he was. He had eleven brothers and some sisters, so you see th ere was a big family, and Joseph was next to th e youngest. His older bro th ers were far from home taking care of the flocks, and as th ere was no way of hearing from them , Joseph’s fath er Jacob sent him one day to see how the brothers were g etting long. At this tim e he was a young man 17 years old, and even though it was a h ard trip , and Joseph knew his brothers did not like him, yet he was w illing to obey his fath er and go. (Tell th is story in all its f a s c i n a t i n g details, for it is th e f a v o r i t e with most persons of all O. T. narratives. The scene at Dothan. His life as a slave, and in prison. His kindness to the prisoners. P h araoh ’s dreams and trouble. His deliverance and exalta tion. The famine, and his brothers in Egypt coming for food, and his testing them to see if they were changed, so th a t he could help them. Emphasize the deep, warm love in Joseph’s h eart for his brothers.) We have ju st had such a grand tim e this morning, we are sorry it is time to go home, but let us make another picture, th is tim e of big folks instead of little folks. His b ro th ers do not know Joseph, and now he asks every one to leave th e room but them , and then he makes him self known to them . He wept aloud, and then he asked if his fath er was still living. His brothers were so frightened they could not answer. Why do you suppose they were afraid? Yes, because of th eir treatm en t of Joseph. Wrong-doing always makes us afraid. Then he threw his arm s around his youngest b ro ther and kissed him, and then he kissed all his brothers and wept updn, them . F in ish story emphasizing memory verse. Prayer.
