she is doing, fo r she is helping other girls to know and love Jesus. We must all do the best we can to show how much we love Jesus who died for us. Who can tell something you did last week? Did you give a Gospel to some one? Did you tell some one about Jesus? Did you try to bring some one to class? CAT IS OUT OF BAG “ In th e very fo refron t of world-en circling effective evangelists and as a successful teacher of multitudes of young men and women preparing them for evangelistic labor and o th er form s of Christian service,” says th e Bible cham pion, “stands R. A. Torrey, now a t the head of th e Los Angeles Bible Insti tu te. He has w ritten many valuable books, among them th e m asterly theo logical treatise, W hat the Bible Teaches. In view of the frequent theological per versions and aversions, th e manifold theological deficiencies and require ments we have observed in The Chris tian Century, we had thought of recom mending th is treatise to th e editor of th a t jou rn al; bu t we see it would likely do no good, for, in an editorial in the issue of Aug. 31, it is said: ‘Dean Torrey has made a g reat many addresses and has undoubtedly said many things th a t he has forgotten. Indeed, most of what he says is better forgotten.’ This last sentence is an illum inating self-exposure of The Century. We know where to place it now .”

Menory Verses: “Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet w ith h er h air: and the house was filled w ith the odour of the ointm ent.” John 12:3. “Against the day of my burying hath she kept th is.” John 12:7 la st clause. kingdom. ‘Ask, and ye shall receive.’ in anybody’s case. Our Lord Jesus Christ is th e elder b ro ther of the family, but God has not relaxed th e ru le for Him. Remember th is text: Jehovah says to His own Son, ‘Ask of Me, and I will give Thee th e heathen for Thine inheritance, and the utterm ost parts of th e earth for Thy possession.’ If the Royal and Divine Son of God cannot be exempted from th e ru le of asking th a t He may have, you and I cannot expect th e rule to be relaxed in our favor. Why should it be? W hat reason can be pleaded why we should be exempted from prayer? W hat argum ent can there be why we should be deprived of the privilege and delivered from the ne cessity of application? I can see none, can you? ! God will bless E lijah and send rain on Israel, but E lijah must pray for it. If th e chosen nation is to prosper, Samuel must plead for it. If the Jews are to be delivered, Daniel must intercede. God will bless Paul, and the nations shall be converted through him, bu t Paul must pray. P ray he did w ithout ceasing; his epistles show th a t he expected nothing except by asking for it. If you may have everything by asking, and nothing w ith out asking, I beg you to see how abso lutely vital prayer is, and I beseech you to abound in it.” â à
