Pre"fab-ulous" Underground Liner
An underground stormwater detention system was being installed as part of site development for a large warehouse in Richmond, British Columbia. The design required two large stormwater systems over 13,993 SF (1,300 m2) each, with one on the east side and another on the west side of the building. This detention system would help manage stormwater runoff volumes to avoid flooding, and reduce peak flows discharging from the site during a rainstorm event. The dugout containing the chambers for this detention system needed to be lined with geomembrane for environmental and performance reasons. Titan was called on to complete this portion of the project. The engineers designed the system to utilize a 30mil geomembrane LLDPE to prevent landfill leachates from getting into the stormwater being detained within. For construction we proposed using prefabricated geomembrane panels for for efficiency reasons, which we custom fabricate in-house to the required size requirements. In total, Titan fabricated, supplied, and installed 75,950 SF (7,056 m2) of 30mil LLDPE geomembrane and 32,291 SF (3000m2) of Swamp Grid™40 geogrid for soil stabilization, to successfully execute this project.
Pumping Station Action
This summer we supplied and installed 3mm concrete protective liner for a new 160 ft. (50m) underground sewage overflow tank at a pumping station in Southern Ontario. This underground overflow tank is designed to store enough sewage to last 48 hours in the event the sewer pumps stop working. The overflow tank was lined with concrete protection liner to help protect the environment from toxic sewage leakage and gas emissions should the concrete crack. Installation involved welding joints for pipe sections making up the tank. Titan was selected for this project due to our extensive experience and expertise with tunnel-lining projects. Our team completed the job in 6 days to ensure a safe site!
