'Lagooning' Around
This summer we supplied and installed a wastewater lagoon lining system in Southeastern Manitoba. Our crew worked together to keep morale high through the prairie heat, to install 586,094 SF (54,450 m2) of 60mil HDPE for 4 cells. The original design had intermediate trenches between all four of the cells, but we worked with the contractor and were able to show our methodology of lining over the berms was more efficient, so it was approved. Working in hot conditions, our crew was able to achieve the necessary production values completing the job on schedule and on budget.
Rail Track Revamp
A G3 Grain Elevator site in Manitoba required further railbed stabilization and geocell was the perfect solution for this track rehabilitation project. The project consisted of removing the existing track and excavating down to the design elevation requirements so that the installation of geocell could take place on 4,790 ft. (1460 m) of rail track. The design included 2 layers of custom-size geocell panels which were secured together with cable locks and the cells were filled with sub-ballast rock. Layers of geotextile were used to help with further reinforcement and meet filtration requirements. This product, combined with the knowledge and experience provided by JKW Construction on this project, allowed for an easy and quick install so that the track servicing the grain elevator could be restored with minimal disruption.
