Abstract: In this study, the researcher carries out a critical review of the theory of agenda setting in the context of the networked digital environment. As a fundamental or theoretical study, it aims to achieve understanding as a contribution to rooting certain concepts or theories. The study presupposes that the digital communication environment had a profound impact on the foundations of the agenda setting theory and its mechanisms. The most prominent of which is that the monopoly of traditional media of the agenda- setting process has been undermined, causing increased public participation in the process of agenda building and the practice of media gatekeeping.
