MYERSCOUGH COLLEGE & UNIVERSITY RENEWS PARTNERSHIP WITH THE FYLDE RUGBY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

Myerscough College & University Centre renews partnership with The Fylde Rugby Community Foundation supporting Garstang Community Academy’s Curriculum + Rugby Programme The Fylde Rugby Community Foundation is delighted to announce the renewal of its key partnership with Myerscough College, continuing its support for Garstang Community Academy’s Curriculum + Rugby Programme for another year. Following the success of last year’s initiative, this renewed sponsorship ensures that young players in the Garstang area can keep benefiting from top-quality coaching and playing opportunities. A major aspect of this ongoing partnership is the invaluable experience it provides for Myerscough College Rugby Studies students. As part of their course, students will once again gain hands-on coaching experience by leading after- school rugby sessions at Garstang Community Academy. This real-world application of their studies enhances both their learning and the development of the young players they mentor. Phill Mills, Foundation Director at the Fylde Rugby Community Foundation, expressed – “We’re pleased to continue our partnership with Myerscough College. Rugby is more than just a game, it teaches discipline, teamwork, and respect. With Myerscough’s ongoing support, we can keep providing opportunities for young people to discover and embrace rugby, ensuring a pathway from school to local clubs and even to further education at Myerscough.” Myerscough College and University Centre is a leading institution for education and training in the sports industry, offering dedicated centres of excellence in Football, Golf, Basketball, Rugby, and Cricket. With a strong reputation for sporting success, the College provides elite-level coaching, state-of-the-art facilities, and industry-focused qualifications designed to meet modern professional standards. Students benefit from a hands-on, practical approach, ensuring they develop the skills and experience needed to excel in their chosen sport and secure their dream careers in the industry. Chris Stabler, Myerscough College & University says: “We are really pleased with our working relationship between the college and Fylde Foundation. The industry links are so

beneficial for our students, allowing them to access work experience, coaching opportunities, paid and voluntary coaching work and gaining insight into how the sports industry functions at the community level. Our students have found this partnership invaluable and afforded them knowledge, skills and behaviours to help them succeed at college and beyond” With inclusivity and accessibility at the heart of the programme, the Fylde Rugby Community Foundation and Myerscough College are committed to ensuring more young people get the chance to experience rugby some for the first time, helping to grow the sport and inspire future generations.
