FYLDE U’14S REACHLANCSCUPFINAL
What a game and what a team!
with successful conversions to bring the half to a close with Fylde 33-0 up. Bolton never threatened and I dont think got into our 22, let alone much past our 10 in that first half. What a team effort, to a lad putting a shift in and the game was albeit over by this point. We have been complacent in the past and allowed teams a glimmer of light after half time but a good talk with the coaches, and the lads took the field for the second half and there was no yards given to Bolton once more. Will H shifted to the centres and this released him on many a barn storming run taking no prisoners. There will be some sore bodies in Bolton after this after Will H showed a masterclass in lung bursting energy parting the Bolton defence like a knife through butter, adding two tries for himself to the tally along with a third from Monty, all duly converted by Henry F, and Harvey. The 40-0 threshold arrived early on in the second half where the game would be effectively over and we would turn into a training game due to the fact that in Lancashire Cup if the points margin reach 40 then the game is over and that is the result recognised. Hence a 40-0 win for Fylde. However Bolton were given the option and good on them they said lets keep going as a full game and so we did. The pack continued to dominate, Jack, Harry W, James S, Kai, Harry R, Hugo, Josh DM and Henry L driving on and over not giving the Bolton lads a second to think all marshalled by captain Archie. Henry L added a try for the pack after another of his trademark pick and goes. Harry R would have added as well, only being pulled back for an infringement. The backs plugged on probing the line with last gasp tackles from Bolton on Harvey, Ollie and Josh WB, Joe and the rest, but Bolton were flagging, their early vociferous crowd subdued and it was now just playing the game out. A final training ground move from the line out brought the game to a close. Quick ball out to Harry Mc with Tom C running the dummy. The Bolton defence took the dummy, parted like Moses and the Red Sea and Harry Mc cruised under the posts with Henry F adding the final kick of the game to finish 66-0, with the official result as 40-0 to Fylde.
We arrived to a cold bleak Avenue Road ground and just got on with it. Warmed up in our usual structured manner with Bolton looking on and waited for the appointed ref to turn up.....got to 10.30....nothing.....10.45....nothing. At least we had Toddy on the side lines just in case we needed a superman Madref to come in and save us at the last. 10.50.....there is a gleam of yellow emerging from the changing rooms and thankfully Jack the assigned ref emerged onto the pitch. A quick natter, stud check and then all good to go. We kicked to them, we drove over them but they decided to get hands on the ground and clawed the ball back... ref? are you watching....no...well lets get on with it and so we did winning the ball back at the next phase for Henry F to crash over the line and add the extras from the tee. 7-0 Fylde after a couple of minutes.
Barely time to take breadth and we were 12-0 up after
Tom C had executed a trade mark try, with unfortunately one of the Bolton lads coming off worse for wear from the final tackle on the line. The injury was dealt with but Bolton were dazed, and did not know what had hit them as the blitz continued with Noah surging down the wing breezing past the flailing winger and full back and scoring with the extras being added by Henry F once more. 19-0 and barely 10mins on the board. This is where this match report becomes easy now as we continued to rinse and repeat the above for the rest of the first half with Monty crossing the line twice more along
What a game. In my own opinion the most complete
