Last week was a deserved week off for the Fylde squad, which was a run of 10 straight matches and training weeks. Over this period of the season, Fylde supporters and members have seen some mixed results. There has certainly been no panic within the squad but rather a clear mindset working towards what is needed to win matches in this league. Looking back to our last match vs Leeds, the above very much rings true. It would be fair to point towards factors such as players being out of position, bringing a player out of retirement etc… However, the squad that took the field vs Leeds was quality and showed exactly that. Leeds fully deserved their victory but we had the league winners elect in a serious match with the score changing hands in the first half and some key moments early in the second half where more pressure could have been applied.

This return match today will have plenty of emotion behind it with a Fylde team wanting to respond to a below par performance earlier in the season and a Billingham team fighting to stay in the league. Billingham play a brand of rugby with flair, courage and willingness to move the ball along with power to test the set piece.
