SUPPORTING PUPILS WITH DISORDERED EATING - HOW SCHOOLS CAN HELP
This training helps school staff understand the complexities of disordered eating in young people, including underlying causes and warning signs. It also provides practical strategies for supporting affected pupils and their families with sensitivity, care, and appropriate school-based responses. DELIVERED BY BEP’S EXPERT MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING TEAM. This session explores what disordered eating is—and isn’t—highlighting the spectrum of behaviours and attitudes that can signal concern. Attention is given to the pressures young people face around food, body image, and control, as well as how these issues can show up subtly in a school setting. Attendees will gain confidence in creating a more supportive school environment, through inclusive language, and practices that promote wellbeing for all students. By the end of the training, participants will leave with a stronger understanding of disordered eating and a clearer sense of how they can play a positive and proactive role in supporting young people and their families.
