Katharine Peterson Consultant Solicitor

Katharine acts for clients who lack the capacity to manage their finances. She has been appointed by the Court of Protection as deputy for a wide variety of clients from young children with cerebral palsy to elderly clients with dementia. Her particular expertise lies in acting for clients who have sustained severe brain injuries and been awarded substantial personal injury compensation. Having initially specialised in traditional private client work on qualification in 1993, she soon developed an interest in Court of Protection work and has practiced exclusively in this field for the last fifteen years. She has been selected for the Office of the Public Guardian’s Panel of Deputies, and this leads to her appointment as deputy where the Court of Protection determines that an experienced independent professional deputy is required, often where there has been mismanagement or theft of a client’s assets. Katharine is also often instructed by other firms of solicitors to provide expert evidence on Court of Protection costs in personal injury and clinical negligence cases.
