Tackle Hunger: Home of the Souper Bowl of Caring
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S LETTER
Dear Friends of Tackle Hunger and Souper Bowl of Caring, Thank you for your continued support, prayers, and passion for food security and community flourishing in the U.S. While the pandemic may be behind us, its impact on food charities lingers—and the need is growing. This year alone, more than 50 million Americans turned to food charities for help. Your support of Tackle Hunger and our signature campaign, Souper Bowl of Caring, is vital. Thanks to your generosity, nearly 20 million meals were provided to those who might otherwise go without just this year alone. But hunger doesn’t stop after the Super Bowl—and neither do we. Our mission has expanded to support food charities year-round, helping them offer not just food, but also toys, clothing, books, and hygiene products, all essential resources for families in crisis that food charities want to provide.
This year, we partnered with Toys for Tots and others to deliver over $16 million in resources to food charities across six states. At one event, 2,000 families showed up just for a toy, underscoring the breadth of need and the necessity of key items for daily survival and success. We believe that when food charities have access to more basic critical resources, fewer families will be turned away. (Right now, 1 in 5 food charities reports turning people away due t
o lack of resources.)
We’re also proud to partner with regional dairy councils, LA Foods (providing wholesale access to charities of all sizes), and NFL players and teams who share our commitment to helping food charities feed more people. As we wrap up the 35th season of Souper Bowl of Caring, we return to the simple yet powerful question that started this movement: What if everyone watching the Big Game gave just $1 or 1 can of food? That small act can have a game-changing impact. With your help, we’ve already generated over $220 million in support for food charities—and the return on your investment is extraordinary: $25 = $650 in support = 1,500 meals. We specialize in mobilizing people to help and your generosity fuels everything we do. Thank you for standing with us.
With deep gratitude,
Executive Director Tackle Hunger: Home of the Souper Bowl of Caring

ADVOCATING FOR FOOD CHARITIES
Take the Church Challenge!
Churches started this movement. Let’s lead it again! In 1990, a simple prayer at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church sparked a movement: “Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl, help us be mindful of those without a bowl of soup to eat.” That moment launched the Souper Bowl of Caring, and churches have been at its heart ever since. Now, as the 2026 Big Game heads to San Francisco, True Hope Church in Bayview is challenging every church in America to step up again—to show the world the power of united, local giving. Imagine if every church-goer gave just $1 or one can of food to a local food charity. The impact would be extraordinary. Join the nationwide Church Challenge and be part of this mission to ensure no one goes without a bowl of soup.
Tackle Hunger is teaming up with LA Foods to help food charities cut costs and feed more people. While our annual Souper Bowl of Caring inspires giving, this year- round partnership gives food charities access to wholesale pricing and more affordable freight—helping them get the food they need without breaking the bank. Even in its early stages, this program is already helping charities slash costs and stretch their impact. More savings means more meals for those who need them most. Donating Dollars for Dairy This year, we asked you to Donate Dollars for Dairy through the Souper Bowl of Caring event and the Tackle Hunger Map. Dairy is the most requested, but least donated item for food charities across the country. With the help of dairy councils across the US, you heard our request! THANK YOU for helping families lead healthier lives. $231,000 was donated to enable food charities nationwide to purchase healthy dairy products for hungry families in their communities.
