Gold Rush Days Juneau
Juneau Gold Rush Days 2019 was a great success this year thanks to all the amazing sponsors and volunteers. A record number of competitors entered in all the mining events with a great crowd to cheer them on despite a stormy Saturday. There were about 5000 visitors each day to enjoy the mining and logging competitions and to enjoy all the food and wares under the big tent. Old and young alike enjoyed panning for gold thanks to the AJ Mine/Gastineau Mill Mine Tours and trying their hand at the Excavator Challenge thanks to Tyler Rental. The Ruth Roberts Children’s Carnival was great fun for the kids thanks to CMI. And for the first time in nearly a decade, the Loggers won the Miners vs. Loggers Tug of War! Special thanks to Coeur Alaska – Kensington Mine, Hecla Greens Creek Mining Company, Juneau Parks and Recreation, Juneau Radio Center, Alaska Marine Lines, Redpath USA Corporation, AJ Mine/Gastineau Mill Mine Tours, NC Machinery, Construction Ma- chinery Industrial and Southeast Mine Supply for being major Gold Sponsors and to many other sponsors and volunteers who contribute so this fun, free family event can happen each year! Be sure to mark your calendars for June 20 and 21, 2020. A new concrete blocks has been poured for the drilling competitions. The Juneau Gold Rush Days Board will be adding a Children’s Spike Driving competition and are considering bringing back Horse Shoe Pitching and a Gold Panning Competitions next year.
