AMA President Bartly Kleven Honored as Mining Trailblazer
Bartly Kleven, Environmental Manager at Kinross Alaska and president of the Alaska Miners Association, has been honored by the Women’s Mining Coalition as one of four 2022 inspirational trailblazers among women in the industry. Women’s Mining Coalition honored 100 women who have been selected for Women in Mining UK’s 2022 edition of the WIM100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining (WIM100). They were selected from 915 nominations for 491 women from 61 countries. The other inspirational trailblazers in 2022 were: n Kathleen Autenrieth – Regional Director at Kinross n Melissa Sanderson – CEO of Mel Sanderson Consulting LLC n Debra Struhsacker – Principle of Struhsacker Consulting “These four women are pioneers in the mining industry and truly exemplify the characteristics that earned
them this honor: innovation, inclusivity, advocacy, empowerment, perseverance, and courage in the face of adversity. “They join a distinguished group of past WMC honorees including: n 2013: Jean Bustard, Janet Gellici, and Laura Skaer (Inaugural award honorees) n 2016: Betty Gibbs, Jeane Hull n 2018: Wendy Hutchinson n 2020: Kathy Benedetto, Carolyn Loder, Kim Morrison “When I joined the Women’s Mining Coalition and attended my first fly-in, I was inspired by the leadership in the group,” Sara Thorne, President of Women’s Mining Coalition said. “It is exciting to see these talented professionals receive this honor and we are proud to celebrate their accomplishments as the 2022 WIM100s!”
