Spirulina ( Arthrospira platensis ) is one of nature’s oldest life forms, and a food source for millennia. Spirulina grows naturally in high alkaline soda lakes in Africa and South America. It may be nature’s most concentrated whole food supplement. Chock full of phytonutrients, chlorophyll, phycocyanin and complete protein, spirulina is also rich in iron, vitamin A (beta carotene), vitamin K, and vitamin B12. Most significant is that it’s easily absorbed, as its non-cellulose wall makes spirulina a true superfood supplement.

Recent animal clinical studies have demonstrated many Spirulina benefits. • Spirulina enhances immune response and gut health in dogs. Our Spirulina was used in this study. They conducted a randomized trial in 30 adult dogs who were fed 1.5 – 2g of Hawaiian Spirulina® for every 50lbs of the dog’s weight. Their immune response was assessed by vaccine response and gut health was evaluated by fecal IgA and gut microbiota. Dogs that were fed Spirulina showed a statistically significant higher vaccine response and higher levels of IgA and gut microbiota stability compared to the control group. • Spirulina supports hematological and immunological function in dogs. Spirulina also benefits horses. • Spirulina (combined with the herb Gynostemma pentaphyllum) normalizes respiratory recovery rates in high performance horses. • Horses that supplemented with Spirulina extract lost weight and their insulin sensitivity improved.
