Juneau Mining Forum
Photos by Lee Leschper More than 150 Alaska miners, Alaska elected officials and agency representatives met March 7 in Juneau for the first Juneau Mining Forum. Below right, the general managers of three of Alaska’s producing mines — Steve Ball, Coeur Alaska Kensington; Jim Coxon, Northern Star Resources Pogo Mine; and Brian Erickson, Hecla Greens Creek Mine — discuss the success and contributions their mines are making including supporting more than 1,500 Alaska mining families.
Informed, passionate speakers were a key part of the program, including MAPTS Director Bill Bieber, new DNR mining Director Christy Colles, U.S. Forest Service’s Mathew Reece and AIDEA Director Randy Ruaro.
