Postscript
Do you remember that clear day when we went to see a house we thought might suit our needs, and how it proved the usual dismal failure? We had an hour to wait for a return train, and so we decided to walk to the next station, and on the way we passed a house "For Sale." Do you remember how it suited us with its uninterrupted view of the sea and sky-and its sturdy solidity? The trees in its garden are all young, but by the time we have paid completely for the house, they will be a fair size. "Plant a poinciana there," you said, "and some allemanda along this fence, and when I come back they will be grown." So with six growing children, we are starting afresh, taking root with young trees in South Africa. When those simple fishermen were at the height of their material success-so that the net was breaking with the great draught of fishes they miraculously caught, it was then the Master called them to a lonely higher place-though humanly as humble. Is not the broken net a symbol of God's purpose for a change of situation-an advance in spiritual growth unmeasureable by worldly success? The net broke. Follow Me. This is the only sequence-from failure to triumph. And if you don't come back, we shall, God helping us, continue in that triumphal procession until we catch up with you in that beautiful country where there is no more sea.
