We went to their favorite downtown restaurant called “The Black Dog” and everything was really tasty. We did not order the area specialty of “pulpo” (octopus) because we had previously tasted it and were not fans. However, the Cidra was interesting and the meals we ordered were superb. Best of all was the fabulous dessert: unfortunately I have forgotten its name—oh woe!
Plaza Alfonso II el Casto
The main cathedral in Oviedo is a world heritage site and it is magnificent in its age and its architecture. It is known as the Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica or the Cathedral of San Salvador (its earliest name). It was started in 781 A. D. and transformed many times over before its final completion in the 1500s. Because of the many years consumed during its construction there are elements of Pre-Romanesque, Baroque, Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance styles incorporated into the architecture.
