MAJOR Business Administration HOMETOWN Two Rivers, Wis. ORGANIZATION Manitowoc Ice - Pentair Water Solutions Manitowoc, Wis. TITLE Sales/Marketing Intern

What I did: I spent my time in a variety of different arenas within the business. Manitowoc Ice is a part of CWS (Central Water Solutions) which is a segment of Pentair. Within CWS there is Manitowoc Ice which manufactures and sells ice machines, Everpure which manufactures and sells filtration for foodservice/ice machines and finally KBI, which is the service branch of CWS. I spent my time working across the businesses, doing different tasks within those companies. When it comes to Manitowoc Ice, I am predominantly working on the marketing team where I have done a project on long form and short form media and how it correlates to social media. I also covered all of the different social platforms, which caters best to specific types of media, and which fits our brand the most at Manitowoc Ice. I have also been leading a social media campaign called Find The Flake for Manitowoc Ice, which has a grand prize at the end that I designed and pitched to the marketing and content teams. Outside of those two major projects, I have been helping the day-to-day of marketing for the brand. Lastly, I have been given the opportunity to travel to Louisville, and Chicago to this point; going to visit our distributors and the dealers that work with them. Getting more insight into how the sales side of the business runs within the channel, while also getting to meet new people, and do some fun things along the way. When it comes to Everpure, I have mainly focused on sales play efforts. We have been trying to boost sales of specific products within Everpure. The marketing manager is in charge of this and tasked me with taking raw data from our Power BI and creating Excel spreadsheets that show the data broken down into different categories so that we can see where growth and decline are; while also being able to identify trends. I have done this for two separate sales plays and my work is being used by salesmen and leadership throughout CWS to track the sales of our channel and specific product lines. What I liked: I have honestly enjoyed all parts of my internship. Coming into it, I thought I wouldn’t enjoy the marketing side of it; but I realized quickly that I do enjoy it. I enjoy being able to pull together information to make a case for a specific goal or innovation idea. The actual content side of producing the vision is what I don’t believe I would like. Coming up with the idea and giving the framework for the idea is very enjoyable though. I also liked the traveling part of my job; getting to get out there and see how the business runs in the field through our distribution channel. Future Dream Job: I generally consider myself to be a person who is money driven. What I mean is that I don’t necessarily need to be doing my dream job in order to be happy with my job. I care much more about earning my money to do things that I enjoy in my personal life. That being said, I would love to have the opportunity to stick with Manitowoc Ice or Pentair. I have become familiar with the business, enjoy the people I work with and it is close to home. On top of the fact that it is a great company to be involved with. If that opportunity doesn’t present itself, considering Manitowoc Ice is a very competitive business as far as getting a job goes. I would be interested in working for a sports team in the future. Whether that is on their marketing team or more of the front office/financial side of the business.
