What I did: I did both customer service training and organizational management and strategy training. During my customer service training, I learned how to use both of the restaurant’s systems, OpenTable and Toast, additionally I learned waitlist management, reservation and customer flow management, phone procedure and etiquette, menu planning, how to guide customer experience through steps of service, event on-site management and coordination, and event payment processing. During the organizational management and strategy training portion of my internship, I attended the monthly marketing meetings at Lucille to discuss the upcoming events that were taking place, I created weekly marketing emails for Lucille to highlight upcoming events and menu changes, and I met with the CEO of the company and he taught me about the vision, mission, and marketing position of Lucille. Additionally, I worked alongside the event coordinator or Rule No. One Hospitality on a rehearsal dinner that took place on July 19 where I had to communicate with the client about their menu, processing the payments, guest count, and any dietary restrictions or allergies. I was also able to help set up and decorate for the event. What I liked: I really enjoyed being pushed outside of my comfort zone during this internship. I was able to expand my network and meet so many people during this process. My favorite part was having one on one meetings with the event coordinator or Rule No. One Hospitality and getting to work with her directly on an actual event. Working with the event coordinator gave me a huge insight into what I want my future career to be and she taught me the importance of having work life balance because event planning is a very demanding career.
Future Dream Job: My dream job is to be an event planner or coordinator.
