SMALL BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT

Vitor Schlosser

You can find a martial arts studio in any town across America. While some cater to different styles, such as karate, kung fu, and taekwondo, we here in South Florida are lucky to have a good number of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu studios

Vitor has put his professional fighting days on hold while he builds his business. Accomplishing a goal he had for eight years, Vitor opened the doors to his own school in Sept. 2015. Along with his younger brother, Eric, they teach the young and old about the art of Jiu-Jitsu, which translates to “the gentle art.” Vitor says there is a misconception that martial arts are only for kids. While his youngest student is 3 years old, his oldest started at 68. The reason why someone can learn at an advanced age is because this martial art is the most efficient and the safest to train, and it is the best for self-defense. Vitor truly believes that Jiu-Jitsu can change a person’s life. Schlosser says Jiu-Jitsu is a lifestyle; once you start, it will change everything in your life. “I am still learning today,” he says. He passes this knowledge on to his students, as he “teaches for everybody.” Vitor believes this is what makes his school stand out from the rest. There are no cookie-cutter teaching routines. Each class is different. Although, there will be a new fundamental program that will give students eight weeks of training in fundamental self-defense before starting the standard curriculum. Vitor encourages anyone who wants to get in shape, change how they are feeling, and learn a new skill to give Jiu-Jitsu a try. If you live in the area and want to try a free week of classes, the doors are always open. Come in and see how Jiu-Jitsu can change your life.

(or dojos). Juno Beach is especially lucky to be the home to Schlosser Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Vitor Schlosser sat down with us to talk about what makes his school unique to the area. Vitor Schlosser’s journey began in Vitoria Espirito Santo, Brazil. For Vitor, it began as a way to lose some weight. He started training in Jiu-Jitsu after school. It was then that his love for this martial art kicked in. At the age of 19, Vitor moved to the United States and continued to train. Vitor has competed all over the world and received the silver medal in the 2011 world championships as a brown belt (second-highest ranking belt). He was even a contestant on a fighting reality show. He still competes today and has four professional mixed martial arts fights.
