Management Essentials. In this course, new managers build a solid foundation of knowledge and best practices for leading teams effectively. Sessions in 2024 included new content focused on documenting employee performance as well as understanding legislation such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Interview Skills for Hiring Managers. Participants hone their ability to evaluate job candidates through lessons in areas such as preparing more insightful questions, eliminating unconscious bias, and avoiding interview topics that are prohibited by law. This training also explores how to build effective and balanced interview panels. We also continued to invest in strengthening the leadership skills of managers in our production facilities. Through a partnership with Blue Ridge Community and Technical College, Trex makes various courses available to team members in our manufacturing locations. responsibilities, time management, delivering feedback, and providing recognition. Starting in 2024, Blue Ridge instructors also taught courses on site at our Fernley location. Nearly 100 employees participated in these courses during 2024. Employees at our production facilities can also participate in our VIP Culture training series, which is designed to foster collaborative decision-making skills, enrich the workplace culture, and reinforce our organizational values. In 2024, we developed a VIP Culture program tailored to employees in all areas of the organization. Trex Leadership Academy Launched in 2023, Trex Leadership Academy offers high- potential Trex leaders a chance to develop their competencies in business acumen, team-building, strategy, communications, and other leadership skills. Our first cohort of 28 director-level team members graduated from the year-long program in 2024 while another 11 directors and senior managers began their 12-month cohort in July. Through the academy, we aim to build a deeper
pool of talented people within Trex who are well prepared to assume senior and executive roles across our company.
Our employees have free access to the entire LinkedIn Learning® catalog of more than 20,000 courses spanning a wide range of professional development topics. More than 420 Trex employees viewed over 1,900 hours of LinkedIn Learning content in 2024. In addition to self-selected courses, various teams across Trex also used LinkedIn Learning modules to advance targeted professional development objectives in 2024. For example, our Continuous Improvement Group assigned more than four hours of topic-specific courses to 155 of our manufacturing employees and achieved a 92% completion rate. Similarly, we incorporated LinkedIn Learning courses into a Leadership Trainee program for employees in our Distribution and Transportation Group.
Individual Development Plans
In 2024, we launched a new Individual Development Plan (IDP) framework to help employees identify and achieve their professional goals with strong support from their managers. IDPs provide a structured and personalized roadmap for enhancing an employee’s skills, improving their performance, and preparing them for other roles at Trex. The IDP program also helps us align employee goals with broader organizational objectives and retain highly talented team members who will continue to fuel our business growth. As part of the IDP process, selected employees may be paired with leaders from across Trex for mentorship and career guidance. In 2025, we are working to increase the number of mentors and mentees companywide.
