One of the most striking themes to emerge from this season’s weddings is the colour black. Once considered unconventional, it has now become a confident colour choice embraced by couples seeking a fresh, sophisticated aesthetic. From sleek stationery and fashion statements to moody florals
and dramatic tablescapes, black is stepping into the spotlight—and redefining the modern wedding palette. Many of the beautiful real weddings featured in this issue showcase this trend in inspiring, deeply personal ways. Equally inspiring is the rise of Rococo-inspired weddings. Across Pinterest, for example, searches for “Rococo wedding” have nearly doubled, with “Rococo party” surging by 140%! Translation? Couples are dreaming in pastels, gold filigree, and unapologetic opulence. With its whimsical elegance and over-the-top charm, this trend is proof that romance (and a touch of extravagance) is back in a big way. SENTIMENTAL SURPRISES Guests entered the reception at CHÂTEAU LE PARC to find a striking 360-degree seating chart installation, thoughtfully designed as both a seating guide and a poignant photo opportunity. The display also featured cherished images of the couple’s late grandparents, framed by the heartfelt message, “We know you’d be here if heaven wasn’t so far away.” Secretly planned by the bride’s sister and event planner, Alyssa, in collaboration with their parents, the tribute created a deeply emotional welcome. Another heartfelt surprise followed—a beautifully detailed sketch of the bride and groom, lovingly drawn by the groom’s mother.
ROMANTIC REVEAL Inside the ballroom, Alyssa and her team at EVENT SHOPPE BY ALYSSA & CO. transformed the space with a modern black-and-white aesthetic. White roses and soft candlelight filled the room, creating a romantic ambiance that felt both timeless and tailored. Every layer of the design reflected the couple’s story, brought to life with intention, love, and sisterly insight.

SENTIMENTAL SPIRIT Once the festivities began, the reception came alive with high-energy moments, heartfelt surprises, and cultural traditions that kept the dance floor full all night. One of the most unforgettable highlights was when the bride’s father took to the stage, performing on accordion alongside his lifelong friend on saxophone—a surprise performance that paid homage to their years playing together in a wedding band. The music continued with a lively lineup of Italian and Macedonian wedding traditions. Every beat of the evening was intentional—planned to entertain, delight, and reflect the couple’s playful, sentimental spirit.

After the wedding, Nicole and Anthony jetted off to Hawaii for a romantic honeymoon, where they explored both Maui and Honolulu. Highlights included whale watching, sunrise at the summit of Haleakalā National Park, and enjoying their first days of married life soaking in the natural beauty of the islands. Now back home in Bolton, Ontario, Nicole works in financial services while Anthony is an account executive.

For Georgette, the most unforgettable moment of the day was when the church doors opened and she saw Sam waiting for her at the altar. The traditional ceremony was heartfelt and reverent, a meaningful beginning to the day’s grand celebration.

A floral arch framed the fireplace, creating a dramatic focal point for the sweetheart table, which was surrounded by flickering candles and lush arrangements by J’ADORE FLORAL BOUTIQUE. “The flowers and the candles around our table were my favorite part of the decor,” shares Georgette.

SENSORY CELEBRATION The reception unfolded as a true sensory experience, filled with immersive entertainment and thoughtful hospitality. Guests enjoyed a lively lineup of performers, including a saxophonist, singer, oriental dancer, DJ, and band—each act bringing its own energy to different parts of the evening. A shisha lounge in the garden added a relaxed, social vibe, while a private bar in the basement featured a personalized light show and signature cocktails. One of the night’s most memorable moments was a surprise screening of the same-day edit in the mansion’s private movie room. Guests dined on a lavish catered meal reflective of the couple’s Lebanese roots, adding another layer of warmth and cultural richness to the celebration. After the wedding, Georgette and Sam honeymooned at Hotel Eldorado Royale in Riviera Maya, Mexico, where adventure met unexpected twists—including Sam losing his wedding ring (twice) and a spontaneous road trip across the region to recover it. They returned home with the happiest news of all: Georgette was pregnant. Today, the couple resides in Mississauga, Ontario, where Georgette works as an accountant and Sam manages automotive operations.

ELEGANT ENERGY The reception had an amazing energy, with a 10-piece band setting the mood from dinner straight through to the dance floor, blending soulful melodies and upbeat rhythms that kept guests engaged all evening. Elegant floral installations, a showstopper wedding cake, and carefully curated lighting enhanced the timeless ambiance, creating a warm and inviting backdrop for celebration. Later, Mariam changed into her dazzling second outfit—a beaded mini dress by Bronx and Banco—just in time for Lebanese-Canadian singer Karl Wolf, known for his catchy blend of R&B, pop, and Middle Eastern beats and his viral cover of Africa, to take the stage and get everyone moving. The night was capped off with a spectacular fireworks display, lighting up the sky and creating a magical finale to an unforgettable celebration. After the wedding, Mariam and Marc Anthony spent two and a half weeks exploring Europe, hitting up Mallorca’s beaches, wandering Rome’s historic streets, soaking in Puglia’s stunning landscapes, and diving into Barcelona’s lively culture. A standout moment? Dinner at Grotta Palazzese, a jaw-dropping restaurant inside a cliffside cave that’s equal parts romantic and adventurous. Now based in Tottenham, just outside Toronto, Mariam’s a Junior Controller, and Marc Anthony runs his own millwork business.

DREAM REALIZED Steven promised Desirée a wedding beyond her dreams, and the celebration at Toronto’s iconic FAIRMONT ROYAL YORK delivered exactly that. The black-tie evening began with a cocktail reception, where guests were welcomed by the sounds of a string quartet. They then transitioned into the Concert Hall, where Desirée's dream vision came to life—a blend of French country charm and Regency-era formality, elevated with a fresh Rococo twist.
SOMETHING BLUE The custom-designed, three-level curved stage—where Desirée and Steven’s sweetheart table was placed—served as a regal, garden- inspired focal point, brought to life in collaboration with SIMPLY SIENNA and BLOSSOM BOUTIQUE. To enhance the atmosphere, the drapes of the Concert Hall were replaced with custom dusty blue panels, creating a soft, romantic backdrop that completely transformed the space. “The Fairmont Royal York usually has off-white drapery, and our planner, Rita, asked if we’d be open to changing them to our signature dusty blue colour. We were hesitant at first, wondering if it was necessary, but it made all the difference," shares Desirée. "It created such a dreamy atmosphere and was the perfect backdrop to an already stunning setup."

IN FULL BLOOM The floral design was nothing short of spectacular, with approximately 8,000 blooms used throughout the celebration. The installations featured 2,500 white roses, 1,750 blue hydrangea, 1,000 white campanula, 750 blue delphinium, 500 locally sourced white ranunculus, and 500 helleborus imported from Holland. At each place setting, napkins were carefully hand-folded into delicate rose shapes, echoing the floral motif and adding a personal, artful detail to the table design.

ELEGANT ENERGY Steven, a musician himself, took charge of all music selections—a role he was passionate about. “Steven’s only ask throughout our entire wedding planning process was to be in charge of music,” shares Desirée. For the reception, he chose MAIN EVENT MUSIC, whose high-energy performance had the band stepping off the stage and into the crowd, keeping the dance floor packed all night. An interactive photobooth offered a playful way for guests to capture memories, while wedding favors—gold brass picture frames engraved with the Royal York’s iconic window sketches and a thank-you message—served as elegant keepsakes of the day. After the wedding, the couple embarked on a 3.5-week European honeymoon, starting with lakeside relaxation at VILLA D’ESTE in Lake Como, followed by romantic canal-side stays at the AMAN VENICE. They then traveled to Desirée’s hometown of San Sebastian, Spain, for beach time and family-rooted nostalgia before ending in Paris at the FOUR SEASONS HOTEL GEORGE V, dining with Eiffel Tower views and touring Versailles. Just ten days after returning home, the couple received the happiest surprise of all: they were expecting their first child, a daughter, due in June 2025.

HIGH ENERGY EVENING The celebration unfolded with a mix of fun,
unexpected moments that kept the energy high all evening. A custom vinyl dance floor with a geometric pattern added a bold visual element to the space, while the music kept guests on their feet from the first dance through the final song. After the wedding, Veronica and Victor traveled to Amsterdam, Dubai, and London for an unforgettable honeymoon. A highlight of their trip was staying at a luxury hotel in Dubai’s Palm area, where they were wowed by the architecture and culture. Veronica works in corporate partnerships, while Victor is a project manager. The couple currently resides just outside Toronto.

As Claire shared, “It was the exact style I had dreamed of and fit perfectly,” making the heirloom feel truly meant to be.
VINTAGE TOAST Before the ceremony, Luca gathered with his groomsmen for a celebratory toast in the wine cellar, where they opened a bottle of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2003.

BOLDLY BESPOKE Claire’s wedding gown was custom-made in Miami by couture designer GABRIELLA ARANGO. ETHEREAL MOMENT The ceremony was held outdoors at CASA LOMA within the landmark’s permanent chapel installation, a striking metal structure nestled in the gardens. Enhanced by an extraordinary floral installation from INFINITUDE DESIGN, the setting became a masterful tribute to nature’s quiet majesty. Guests entered the gardens to find a breathtaking floral arch composed of over 6,000 stems of baby’s breath, fresh white garden lilies, and forest branches Cascading strands of amaranth created the illusion of florals suspended midair, gently swaying in the breeze.

The transformation of the hotel’s Canadian Room was striking: velvet linens, mirrored and crystal accents, and modern furniture were layered against a palette of soft neutral tones, creating an atmosphere that felt both timeless and theatrical. Floral design by RACHEL A. CLINGEN featured trailing tablescapes, grand urns, and floral trees that added texture and dimension to the space.
Roger and Kaleigh’s Sweetheart Table was raised on a white platform and styled with an opulent floral display that cascaded from the tabletop to the floor, featuring blush and ivory roses, lush greenery, and soft candlelight.

and a nod to the couple’s love of classic design.
DRAMATIC FLAIR Throughout the evening, a rotating cast of live entertainers brought energy and unexpected charm to the celebration— accordion players wove through the crowd during cocktails, dueling cellists added dramatic flair during dinner, a full choir elevated the atmosphere with layered harmonies, and a fire dancer captivated guests late into the night, each performance offering a new wave of surprise and delight. Following the wedding, Kaleigh and Roger embarked on an unforgettable honeymoon through Spain, Italy, and the South of France. Now back home in Toronto, Kaleigh continues her career as a teacher, while Roger works as an associate vice president in investments.
