I want to begin with thanking Ron Jones for moderating the Meet the Candidates and the candidates for participating in this important event. There are four(4) open board positions and I encourage all of you to invest time into getting to know the candidates and what they envision for the future of Seven Lakes. Reach out to them, ask questions, and get to know their reason for running. If you did not have the opportunity to attend the Meet the Candidates event, the video can be found on the website under the Resource Tab. Every Board is important and every ballot is important too! Please drop your Ballot off on or before 10:00 AM on March 2, 2022 and stay for the Annual Meeting. The Grand Opening of the Tennis Courts is at 2:00 PM on February 18 th at the Tennis Courts. Please come for the ribbon cutting and see our beautiful courts. We are excited to announce that Jorge Abreau is our new Maintenance Director, who will start on March 1, 2022. He has extensive knowledge in construction facilities management, and construction and retail management. He will lead our Maintenance department on an upward and forward path. Please welcome him just like all of you warmly welcomed me. There are two board meeting left for this current board. We have a workshop meeting on Wednesday, February 16th and next Wednesday, February 23 rd is the final meeting for four (4) of our board members. Some board members have served our community for two years and others over eight years. This would be an occasion not to miss and to thank them for their tireless dedication to the advancement of Seven Lakes.

grow out and be mowed off, but we need a significant temperature warm-up trend to promote turfgrass growth. We will remain on cart -path only restrictions until the warming trend happens. This constitutes a minimum of 5 consecutive days with the daily low temperatures being in the upper 50’s range. On the positive side, we have been receiving some decent precipitation, which is very beneficial for the course and property. Currently, I am putting the summer cultivation schedule together and will post it on the website and in the Pro-shop by the end of this month. In General, the golf course will be closed once a week on Wednesdays, all 18 holes, barring a few Pro Shop exceptions, beginning in May and ending October 1st. This will allow the golf course maintenance crew to accomplish the required cultivations procedures in a more efficient and uniform manner, while significantly increasing the volume of duties performed. This method of summer maintenance (all-day, 18-hole course closure) is standard-place at most golf course facilities. Happy golfing and hope to see you out on the course!

Grounds Department Bruce Zergott, Grounds Manager

Frost damage was mostly on turf areas. Plants will come back, leaf drop and yellowing will happen.

• Tree trimming plan for summer hardwood and palm tree trimming is almost complete. There are a number of sick palms to be removed. • Summer landscapes are getting lined up. Condo Reps please call to set up meetings at your convenience.

Thank you!

Professor Kerr presents “Wimbledon Tennis: From Henry 8th to Strawberries” Friday ~ March 11, 2022 * 2:00 PM * Large Card Room Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and the most prestigious. It started in 1877 and is played on outdoor grass courts, and since 2009 with retractable roofs. ‘The Championships’ as it is called, is played at the All England Lawn Tennis Club at Wimbledon, it now starts in early July. Wimbledon is one of the four tennis world Grand Slams. There is a strict all-white dress code for competitors and royals. Fans consume 80,000 lbs of English strawberries and 2,200 gallons of cream each year. The tournament is also notable for the absence of sponsor advertising, with the exception of Rolex timekeeping and Robinsons barley water. Off course tennis is much older than Wimbledon. We trace the roots of Royal/Real tennis, played indoor on hard courts, to 1200 when it was played with the hand in North France. Racquets were introduced in 1500 and the game became popular when Henry 8 th started to play, Anne Boleyn was a fan. Real tennis declined in the 1700s and lawn tennis emerged in the 1850s we will trace its fascinating journey. $10 per person ~ Please sign up in advance with the Lifestyle team.

“In the Gardens of Giverny: Inspiring the Art of Claude Monet” presented by Carol Jonson Wednesday, March 30, 2022 * 2:00 PM * Large Card Room

The Impressionist master, Claude Monet, is one of the world’s most beloved artists. Monet planted gardens wherever he lived, but his masterpiece was Giverny, where he spent more than half of his long and very productive life. The beautiful gardens he created at Giverny were a never-ending source of inspiration for Monet as we will discover in this class by looking at photos of the gardens and how Monet translated them into beautiful works of art. This presentation is free. Please RSVP to Lifestyle. Carol Jonson, a Detroit-area native, She has been an adjunct faculty member at University of Detroit, Davenport University and Oakland Community College in Michigan, and at Hodges and Barry universities in Naples, Florida.

Safety & Security on Issues & Concerns

The Safety & Security Committee has been addressing the following issues/concerns for some time. This is a reminder to all owners/residents before any major accidents/issues arise. • Adherence to traffic and speed signs is being ignored by many. All cars, golf carts, and bicycles must follow the posted traffic and speed signs. This includes stopping where required, not riding through or doing a rolling type of stop, NOT driving in excess of 15 mph, NOT cutting the corner at the main traffic circle, AND NOT moving in opposition to the directional arrows and one - way signs in Condo driveways and parking lots.

• Cutting through Condo parking lots is prohibited. Golf carts, bicycles, and

pedestrians (walkers, runners, & joggers) are not to cut through Condo parking lots. This is an accident waiting to happen. Golf carts and bicycles should use the roads and pedestrians (walkers, runners, & joggers) the sidewalks. • As a reminder, golf carts should not leave the Association property. Golf carts are not “ street legal ” and can be cited outside the property by proper authorities. • If bicyclists and pedestrians (walkers, runners, & joggers) are to leave the property, ensure you have a Seven Lakes pass from the Association as you may be checked coming back in.

Protecting the Holes on the Greens The holes on the greens are showing evidence of people digging out their balls with their putters, again. Also not lifting their feet causes raises in the grass on the greens. Lastly even if you pull the balls out of the holes with your gloved hand it impacts the edges of the hole rounding them off because of the yellow poles. Please take your glove off to make your hand smaller and less likely to impact the hole. Thank you! ~ The Ranger
