IN MEMORIAM
Remembering Terry Clyne ’60
Gilmour Academy mourns the loss of Terrence “Terry” Clyne ’65, a devoted alumnus, Trustee and generous supporter whose love for his alma mater and its people was evident throughout his life. Terry passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, while visiting family in Northeast Ohio. A member of Gilmour’s Class of 1965, Terry carried with him a deep appreciation for the friendships and formative experiences he found on campus. Those bonds remained central to his life. During his eulogy at Terry’s funeral Mass, his nephew shared a memory of coming to campus last May to see Terry presented with the “Alumni Man of the Year Award” during his 60 th Reunion. He reflected that it was about more than the award that day. It was about seeing Terry with his treasured friends from Gilmour, adding that it was at Gilmour that Terry’s deep commitment to enduring friendship took root. That spirit of connection and love for bringing people together extended into every part of Terry’s life, from family to business to the many friendships he so carefully nurtured.
Terry’s connection to Gilmour was deep and enduring. A quiet but generous philanthropist, he supported campus initiatives and advanced the school’s mission in meaningful ways. In 2025, he joined the Board of Trustees, where he served on the Building and Grounds Committee. His thoughtful perspective, humility and genuine care for the school community made him a valued leader. Beyond Gilmour, Terry built a distinguished career as an entrepreneur in Nashville, Tenn., and was widely respected for his business acumen and generosity. Yet those who knew him best will remember not his accolades, but his kindness, hospitality and unwavering commitment to others. Terry’s life was defined by relationships — with family, with friends and with the Gilmour community he held so dear. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched and in the enduring spirit of friendship he embodied. Terry’s funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Raphael Church in Bay Village, Ohio on March 16.
