The author is an evangelist, Bible teacher, and consultant on the Baptist Radio and Television Committee.

Here we have the history of Israel from the exodus to the fall of the second temple (A.D. 70). A number of unusual features distinguish the work. Israel’s involvements with oth er nations is constantly outlined. Is rael’s foreign relations have a very real bearing on her history and char acter. Throughout the book the Chris tian theologians’ interpretation of the material is presented. One might call this a theological history. Geneologi- cal and chronological tables provide much material often difficult to find when one wants it: king lists, high priests from 350 B.C. to A.D. 70, the Herodian family, rulers of Judea and Rome. A bibliography and index will be found to be very helpful. Because of the long period covered, the book is closely written, and it will prove to be a lucid and succinct manual, not too technical for the average reader. The author is Rylands Professor of Biblical Criticism and Exegesis at the University of Manchester in England. 254 pages; cloth; Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing House, Grand Rapids; $3.91. FROM M Y KITCHEN WINDOW, by Jessie Rice Sandberg. 232 pages, paper over boards, Sword of the Lord Publishers, Wheaton, III.; $2.50. The author is one of tne daughters of Dr. John R.
