LANCE BAUER

Dr. Lance Bauer serves as Executive Vice President of Beefmaster Breeders United (BBU), where he leads initiatives focused on genetic advancement, member services, and the continued growth of the Beefmaster breed. Raised in the Texas Hill Country in a family involved in commercial cattle and sheep production, Bauer developed an early passion for livestock and seedstock improvement. He earned both his bachelor’s degree in animal science and his Ph.D. in animal breeding and genetics from Texas A&M University. His doctoral research examined the relationships among fertility, feed efficiency, growth, and carcass traits in Beefmaster cattle, work that continues to inform breed improvement efforts.

MATTHEW PFEIFER

Matt Pfeifer grew up in Calhoun County, Texas where he was the 4 th generation to be active in his family’s cow-calf operation. He was heavily involved in 4-H livestock projects and livestock judging. He went on to judge livestock and meats while pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. He later earned a Master of Science at Texas A&M University and currently serves as the Grimes County Extension Agent for Ag and Natural Resources. In this position, he advises junior livestock projects and facilitates educational programs for local land and livestock managers. He and his wife have one daughter and reside in Bryan, Texas.

STEVE ATZENHOFFER

Steve Atzenhoffer is a retired Ag Teacher and is currently working for Ranger Gate Company as an Ag Facility Sales Specialist and has an active Artificial Insemination business. He is a class of 1979 graduate of Texas A&M University. Steve served as the ranch manager for Highland Bend Registered Brangus in Fulshear and ranch manager for Pat Welder Santa Gertrudis Ranch in Sinton for many years. He is currently producing high quality Simbrah Cattle and has exhibited multiple champion bulls and females throughout the years. During his time as an agricultural science teacher, Steve trained many livestock judging champions. Steve and his wife Mary Beth currently live at their family ranch in Cuero, Texas.
