2. ENHANCED PERFORMANCE AND PRODUCTIVITY By reducing how much employees have to think when

completing repetitive tasks, systems make these activities much easier and quicker to perform. In fact, once they’ve gone through the process a few times, your team will likely be able to complete such tasks on autopilot. This saves significant time and effort along with freeing up your team’s creative energies so they can focus more on activities with higher value and payoff. 3. EASIER TO MANAGE CHANGE By adding predictability, business systems significantly enhance your ability to adapt your company to change. With each step of a process spelled out, it becomes much easier to monitor and measure when and where modifications need to be made. Whether the change comes about as the positive effect of growth or in reaction to some unforeseen challenge, systems can enable you to quickly assess and implement the needed updates. 4. ENHANCED TRAINING When you have formal systems and processes in place, the training and integration of new hires becomes far less burdensome. It’s much easier to teach someone how to do their job — and do it well — if you have a set of standard operating procedures for them to follow. Without documented processes for each team member’s job functions, you’re forced to teach new hires from scratch every time someone leaves or gets fired. What’s more, if someone on your team develops a highly successful way of doing their job but no one else knows how that system works, your company could suffer in their absence.

4 BIG-TIME BENEFITS OF EFFECTIVE BUSINESS SYSTEMS

From payroll and project management to invoicing and inventory, business systems are vital to your organization’s efficiency and sustainability. Without effective systems, your team is likely to become bogged down by the countless small tasks they must complete on a daily basis just for your business to function. While many basic processes may not seem like a top priority, business systems form the foundation of your operation and can mean the difference between success and failure. The following are a few of the benefits your company is likely to achieve by streamlining your operations with standardized systems: 1. IMPROVED CONSISTENCY Without business systems, every team member who completes a specific task or function is likely to do things his or her own way. And the results achieved are likely to vary widely depending on who is handling the task. By implementing systems, you can ensure that whenever the same task is repeated, you’ll see roughly the same results. By taking variability out of the equation, you’ll likely achieve a much higher level of consistency with all of your products and services. This not only makes your operation more efficient, but it’s also attractive to clients, as they’ll know exactly what to expect whenever they do business with you.

MASTERFULLY LEVERAGE YOUR BUSINESS’S ONLINE PRESENCE WITH GOOGLE ANALYTICS

The best things in life are free, whether they be a beautiful sunset, a good night’s sleep ... or Google Analytics. If you’re a small-business owner, and you’re not yet tracking the results of your marketing initiatives, you’re probably leaving money on the table. Google Analytics is one of the best tools out there that you can use to track and measure the success of your marketing campaigns — and it won’t cost you anything. Since Google Analytics is free for business owners, you basically get to make money without spending any to begin with. And with Google’s machine-learning capabilities, you know there’s plenty of money to make. Plus, since it’s integrated with Google, you’ll be able to quickly discern how clients, patients, customers, and readers are engaging with your content. Whether you’re a lawyer, a dentist, a physical therapist, or the proprietor of some other type of small business, you’ll be able to put Google Analytics to good use. Among the metrics that you can track with this suite are:

• Where your web traffic comes from • Social media post performance • Blog post shares on social media • How many people visit and interact with your site at least once (the “bounce rate”) • Achievement of company goals After using metrics to gauge the effectiveness of your company’s online presence, you can also use Google Analytics to share the data with your team. Along with all that, you can also integrate Google Analytics with your current software and advertising platforms. Use it to connect your CRM system with other Google products like Google Ads, Admob, Display & Video 360, and more. If your business already has an online presence, then the data that Google Analytics can turn into money for you is already there, just waiting to be utilized. If you want to know how you can leverage your online presence to make your business more successful, get the Google Analytics toolbox for free at Analytics.Google.com.

FROM THE DETRIMENTAL EFFECTS OF LAWSUITS HOW TO PROTECT YOUR BUSINESS

Whether you’re just starting up a small business or you’ve been doing it for years, there are probably a few challenges that you’re contemplating fairly regularly. Maybe those challenges include standing out from your competition or creating an effective marketing campaign. Do they include protecting your business from lawsuits? The sad truth is that lawsuits against small businesses are common enough that pretty much every small business owner will have to grapple with one at some point in time. Fortunately, however, there are a few ways that you can mitigate how often they come your way. LEAVE A PAPER TRAIL WITH YOUR CONTRACTS. Breaches of contract are the most common causes of lawsuits against small businesses. They’re the genesis of nearly a third (31.4%) of all lawsuits filed. So, if you want to avoid lawsuits, always get your contracts in writing, ideally on legal documents with signatures. That way, your opponents will have a harder time finding breaches. CONSIDER ADR PROCESSES INSTEAD OF LEGAL DISPUTES. Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes are any means by which you can settle a dispute with another party outside

of the courtroom. Since going to trial is usually the most expensive part of the lawsuit,

it’s beneficial to both parties to work things out to a satisfactory end outside of court. It may not feel great to write the check, but you’re probably saving yourself from writing a bigger one down the road! RETAIN A LAWYER TO HELP YOU NAVIGATE LAWSUITS AGAINST YOUR BUSINESS. Some 36%–53% of small businesses face a lawsuit of some sort in any given year, so any business owner should have the contact info for an experienced business lawyer. A good lawyer can draft and review your contracts as well as advise you on how to best proceed when another party brings a complaint or a suit against you. If you or someone you know is looking for a business lawyer who can help them prevent and navigate lawsuits against their small business, visit our website at ReibLaw.com or call (940) 591-0600 to set up a consultation.

THE STORY OF LUNGILE MHLANGA

THE FOUNDER OF TREATS CLUB

Following your passion can take you to some pretty unexpected places, but few entrepreneurs can personally attest to that as well as Lungile Mhlanga, the founder of Treats Club. This innovative company offers a unique approach to getting customers freshly baked goods, even when COVID-19 spread across the world. During college, Mhlanga had a part-time job as a makeup consultant with Benefit Cosmetics. She loved this work so much that she dropped out of college to work there full time. A few years later, she took a position working for MAC Cosmetics at Harrods, a famous London department store. Honing her customer service skills, she soon ended up becoming a manager and trainer for MAC, working in Dubai, the Middle East, and India. After she quit her job at MAC, Mhlanga found herself back in London, wondering what to do next. She recalled the praise she had received for some of her baked goods, and that was when her foray into the baking business started. Mhlanga began posting some of her baked goods on Instagram, even scoring her former employer, MAC Cosmetics, as a corporate customer. Then, as fortune would have it, she got a chance to go on “An Extra Slice,” a sister TV show to the popular series “The Great British Bake Off.” On the show, Mhlanga was selected as “star baker,”

validating her desire to turn her passion for baking into a “proper business.” And so, Treats Club was born. Mhlanga made tasty treats, including hot doughnuts, for customers at markets all over London — and not even a pandemic could stop her. Mhlanga simply pivoted into her new circumstances without much fuss, putting together kits that customers could use to make her hot doughnuts themselves. After being featured on popular morning TV show “Sunday Brunch,” she had over 200 orders for the kits. Mhlanga continues to gain notoriety for her baking prowess, and as long as she’s willing to adapt and follow her passions, that success won’t stop anytime soon.
