FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS The University has ambitious plans for a National Health Innovation Campus on the site of the town’s former sports centre, Southgate. National Health Innovation Campus - University of Huddersfield. This project hopes to bring students and visitors into Huddersfield town centre and help develop the next cohort of health professionals. This exciting new capital project, will be a transformative project for the people of the region. It will improve health outcomes and lead innovation in healthcare for the North of England. Purchase of the site alongside a capital investment of approximately £48 million in the construction of a new Health and Wellbeing Academy Building will commence in 2022/23. This will be the first new building to be constructed on this newly acquired site. The investment in this new campus is based on the University of Huddersfield’s outstanding track-record in professional courses and pioneering research, and its wide network of partnerships with leading health and care organisations, led through a new Health and Wellbeing Academy.
