Weed Control Programs Bermudagrass Fairways

Fall Recommendations Poa annua (annual bluegrass) is arguably the world’s most problematic turfgrass weed. Herbicide resistance is a developing problem for turf managers as Poa annua has documented resistance to herbicides with several sites of action including ALS inhibitors (WSSA Group 2), EPSP synthase inhibitors (WSSA Group 9), microtubule inhibitors (WSSA Group 3), and photosystem II inhibitors (WSSA Group 5) herbicides. Poa annua resistance has also been reported for ethofumesate and pronamide. For additional information on Poa annua resistance, visit ResistPoa.org. University weed resistance management research has shown that tank-mixing herbicides with different sites of action is more effective than rotating herbicides with different sites of action. To proactively limit resistance development and maximize Poa annua control this fall, Bayer recommends the following options: PRE3: A tank mix of 3 sites of action (Specticle ® FLO + Tribute ® Total + Simazine) A single application of Specticle FLO in September/October // Delivers consistent control

applied in November/December // Delivers the most consistent control // Preferred option for golf courses where Specticle has been used alone for 5+ years in a row // Recommended approach by Bayer and University Turf Weed Scientists to limit chance for developing resistance

// For use on golf courses where Specticle has never been used or has not been used for 5+ consecutive years
