THE K I N G ' S BUS I NE S S fully kept, and God has blessed the Press in an unusual way. The manager, Mr. Albert Havermale, is an earnest Christian man, recognized as one of the best qualified men in his line of work in this large city; and Biola Press is also recognized as one of the most successful and thoroughly equipped and managed printing plants. From the beginning it has been con ducted on the “ open shop” basis, pref erence being given to Christians as em ployees, but no distinction being made between union and non-union men, pro vided they gave faithful and loyal serv ice. The organization has increased in efficiency and production from the first year, and Mr. Havermale has lately been honored by the Open Shop Divi sion of the United Typothetae of Amer ica, by being named as one of the seven members of its Board of Governors. This position he felt he must decline, feeling that as a representative of a religious institution it would not be wise for him to accept. However, it was a most gracious and well-deserved compliment to our good Brother Haver male, as this Council represents a great organization. Mr. Havermale has instituted a sys tem whereby those who have been in the employ of Biola Press for six months or more receive a bonus at the end of the year, the amount received being determined by the period of em ployment. At the Annual “ Get-to gether” Dinner given in January, at which some fifty of these employees gathered for lunch, these bonuses were distributed and a season of fellowship had, which was participated in by the President and some other officials of the Institute,—a most enjoyable occa sion. It gives us great pleasure to bear this testimony to' this department of our work as an evidence that a business organization can be conducted in a manner pleasing to the Lord.

Over 90,000 Testaments and Gospels were given to those who showed a real Interest in the message, 325,999 other books of Scripture selections and 302,- 896 Gospel tracts were also given to those with whom conversations had been held. In addition to these books and tracts 20,408 Gospel posters were pasted up in conspicuous places where they will be constantly making the of fer of salvation to those who pass by, a grand total of 739,849 printed mes sengers that will keep on giving out the good tidings even after the evan gelists have passed on to other fields. An extract from a letter recently re ceived from a missionary where one of our bands is working, will help to give life and meaning to the figures re corded above. One missionary writes: “ Mr. Cheng with the men of Band No. 1 is here a week today. We are so thankful to have them here, and thank you for sending them. Mr. Cheng is a fine leader. Every evening we are having the chapel crowded. The women meet in the house of our evangelist and that room is crowded also. The high school scholars come every day at five o’clock for Bible study, and in fine weather the smaller boys meet in our courtyard and listen to Bible stories. Our city is getting a mighty stirring up, and we pray that God may grant us souls to lay at His feet. Mr. Cheng is planning to go into the country next week, and we are arranging for six of our church members to go into the country with the band and work with them.” In this way a local band will be trained to go on with the work when our Band No. 1 goes on to a new field. •SWs. m m BIOLA p r e s s The friends who have the privilege of reading THE KING’S BUSINESS from month to month, will be interested in knowing that our Printing Department (known as Biola Press) is one of the most favored departments of the Insti tute work. When this department was organized, we covenanted with the Lord that all the profits should be used in the dis tribution of Bibles, Testaments, Gos pels and other religious literature in accordance with our statement of doc trine. This covenant has been faith
