His approval of John’s message and method, showing John was no ad venturer but in the divine purpose. 2. His pledge of identification with the race—His willingness to assume its burden of sin. 3. His inauguration into the office of High Priest of the new covenant. 4. His pledge to the whole righteous ness of the law. Symbolically He engaged to fulfill it. 5.
