As we work together to provide services and supports to persons with developmental disabilities in our community, North Los Angeles County Regional Center (NLACRC) strives to create an environment of mutual respect and civility for staff, consumers, their families, and all other members of the community. REGIONAL CENTERS MUST COMPLY WITH ANY DIRECTIVE ISSUED BY THE DIRECTOR PURSUANT TO THIS SECTION. THE INTENT OF THIS DIRECTIVE IS TO PROVIDE REGIONAL CENTERS AND SERVICE PROVIDERS FLEXIBILITY TO SUPPORT CONSUMERS AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE DEPARTMENT RECOGNIZES THAT TO CONTINUE TO PROTECT CONSUMER HEALTH, WELFARE, SAFETY AND THE RIGHT TO ACCESS SERVICES OF THEIR CHOICE, REMOTE DELIVERY (E.G., VIDEO OR TELEPHONE VISITS) OF SPECIFIED SERVICES MAY CONTINUE TO BE NECESSARY. NLACRC has identified Independent Living Services (ILS), Supported Living Services (SLS) and Personal Assistance providers who have identified that they would be able to assist with supporting individuals and their families through the process of accessing these services. Please contact your Consumer Service Coordinator to discuss your specific needs and accessing these types of supports. The California State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) and the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) are hosting online Self- Determination Program Orientations in English and Spanish. The SCDD training team includes SCDD staff, self-advocates, and family advocates who have lived experience with the Self- Determination Program. One size does not fit all. You can choose the presentation day and time that fits into your schedule. https://scdd.ca.gov/sdp- orientation/ After attending an SDP Orientation, you will have all the information you need to help you choose if it is right for you and enroll at your local Regional Center.
