What’s the key to keeping vinyl composition tiles (VCT) maintained properly? One key to keeping VCT floors maintained properly is a good matting system. Having the proper mats and vacuuming them regularly can actually capture the majority of dirt that enters facilities from the outside. Another important factor is having the proper equipment. Using an autoscrubber instead of a string mop will make a huge difference because this machine actually removes most of the soil from the floor. The machine will apply solution, scrub it was a pad or brush, and then vacuum it up with the squeegee all in one pass! A string mop removes only a very small amount and just pushes the rest around. What’s the difference between VCT & LVT? Are they maintained the same way? Both are made from vinyl, however VCT (Vinyl Composite Tile) has only a small amount of vinyl and the rest of made up of porous materials. Because of this there is a need to maintain these floors by stripping them and applying new sealer or floor finish. LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) floors on the other hand are made up of 100% vinyl and as a result are much more durable and do not require the application of sealers or floor finish. LVT floors can be made to look like they have wood grain and are often used in healthcare and residential applications. Which demos get the most ‘wow’ from customers? Definitely tile and grout demos. It’s truly amazing how grout can be restored to its original state when you use WAXIE Grout Rescue (#324044) with the proper equipment and techniques! Favorite WAXIE memory? I’d say my favorite WAXIE memory was a few years ago when our sales team decided to go paintballing as a team building activity. It was really fun to hang out with our team outside of work and it was definitely a bonus that we got to shoot paintballs at our boss! Lake Washington or Lake Union? I grew up near a lake called Lake Tapps which has the most amazing views of Mt. Rainier around, so I’m partial to that lake but if I had to choose I’d go with Lake Union. It’s hard to beat the views of the city from there, but I’d head over to Lake Washington for the boat races! Favorite WAXIE Social Media Channel? I’ll go with Instagram. Toilet Paper: Over or under? I’m definitely an over guy, but my wife is an under so that is a constant battle!
