SOPAC showcases art, hosts events, invests in education, and welcomes must-see artists to take the stage. The first Wednesday of each month brings local comedians together for Laughs in the Loft. Coming months will also bring appearances by 1990s vocal powerhouses Paula Cole and Sophie B. Hawkins; a tribute to iconic farewell concert film The Last Waltz ; and a performance by singular singer-song- writer Judy Collins—welcoming the season with a mix of holiday favorites and treasured hits. sopacnow.org If you’ve still got cravings, head to nearby Bistro d’Azur. When they call themselves an “artisanal French Med- iterranean” restaurant, they mean the whole Mediterranean: note influences from Greece, Spain, North Africa and the Middle East in their menu, which changes daily. Selections may include sea-sourced sensations like octo- pus, tile fish, swordfish, and salmon. Meanwhile, the less seafood inclined can look forward to inviting presenta- tions of proteins such as lamb or duck. bistrodazur.com ■ If you were a color, what color would you be and why? Royal Blue: it stands out, it’s vibrant. Is there a design upgrade you’d love to make in your own home? I’d love to put a steam unit in my bathroom. How do you unwind when you’re feeling stressed out? I jump on my Peloton bike. What’s something about the world of design that fascinates you? The drastic change in color finishes— specifically matte black and brushed brass. Those two colors have made a very big impact. Is there an iconic building or space where you’d like to try living? I’d love to live in the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City in Italy. I’d love to wake up each morning and look up to see the famous painting by Michelangelo of Noah and the Flood. ■

What inspires you? I could get something as simple as a tile sample or a photo of a color scheme from a client and just run with it. Is there a TV show or movie with design that you love? This Old House is one of my favorite TV shows because I love how they update old homes so that they still have classic charms—even though they add modern fixtures. Can you share how you dealt with a problem you encountered on a project? A contractor who was redoing his personal primary bathroom found himself with an awkward design problem. He was trying to decide between replacing a corner tub or installing a freestanding tub. The space we were working with was extremely limited and tight. The only option that could work—and that the contractor seemed to like—was a small freestanding tub.

ADA SAHARIG ORANGE
