Craft, aidé par Josh Péladeau et William Collins, le capitaine Drew Shields, aidé par Daniel Menges et Aiden Hilton ont tous trois marqué. En deuxième période, les Nationals ont encore marqué. Cette fois-ci, c’était au tour d’Alex Robert, aidé par Craft et Simon Labelle, de déjouer le gardien des Bears, Bradley Dobson. À la suite du but de Rockland, l’offensive des Bears s’est finalement réveillée. Mitchell Larabie et Alexandre Way ont tous deux marqué pour Smiths Falls. Les Bears ont donné une frousse aux Nats en marquant deux autres buts en troisième période. Alex DiCarlo, aidé par Gervais, ainsi que Way, aidé par DiCarol et Noah Romeo ont compté à leur tour. Heureusement pour Rockland, Graham, aidé par Jean-Sylvain Boyer, a égalisé la marque. C’est donc en période de prolongation que s’est décidé le match. Sullivan, aidé par Craft et Labelle, a vite fait de marquer, accordant ainsi la victoire à Rockland. Les Nationals ont donc maintenant une fiche de 9-5-1-1

Les Nationals de Rockland ont obtenu deux points lors de leurs deux derniers matchs. Ceux-ci affrontaient les Hawks de Hawkes- bury le 12 octobre dernier au Complexe sportif Robert Hartley. La défensive des deux équipes a été superbe. Aucun joueur n’a été en mesure de marquer pendant les trois périodes et lors de la période de prolongation. C’est donc en tir de barrage que les Hawks ont remporté la partie. C’est Luke Grainger qui a finalement battu le gardien des Nats, Joseph Giacobbo. Deux jours plus tard, soit le 14 octobre, les Nats affrontaient les Bears de Smiths Falls, à l’aréna de Rockland. Cette fois-ci, l’offensive de Rockland a explosé. Les Bears ont compté les premiers, en première période, lorsque Scott Gervais, aidé par Tate Leeson et Joey Warywoda, a déjoué le gardien des Nats, Cyrus Martin. Rockland a rapidement répliqué. Cole

LOCAL CANOERS PARTICIPATE IN ONTARIO CUP SERIES EVENT

The races were divided in various groups, depending on age and competi- tion class and would set off at five-minute intervals, meaning that eventually the groups would be mixed together and everyone would be competing for the same piece of water and beach. For the U15 Boys 12,000m race, Ben Davies finished in ninth place with a personal best time of 1.02.56. Tyler Chenette came in 11th place with a time of 1.03.01 and Victor Savulescu, not far behind, in 13th place with a time of 1.07.15. Emily Best finished in sixth place for the U15 Girls 12,000m race with a time of 1.10.34.
On Sunday, September 30, 111 pad- dlers from 13 canoe clubs across Ontario and Quebec participated in the final Ontario Cup Series event for 2018, the OCup 4 - Long Distance Regatta. The Petrie Island Canoe Club (PICC), in Orléans, was represented by four local athletes. Rockland’s Ben Davies, along with Emily Best, Tyler Chenette and Victor Savulescu from PICC, competed in several races throughout the Ontario Cup Series. The races varied between 12,000 metres, 16,000 metres and 20,000 metres.

Assisting on goals were Gaudet, Goodman, Lemay, Cannell, George, Tyler Baker, Matthew Clifford, Zack Lugli, Marco McCreary, and Sam Paquette. Corey Cami- rand guarded the Clarence Creek net. Alexandre Cloutier scored a hat trick for Bytown with goal assists from Cloutier, Francis Dall, Nick Dempster, Nathan Gonyou, Dylan Lajeunesse, Mathieu Laurin, and Colin Lemire. Tye Agardy and Danik Gervais shared netminding duty for Bytown. The Castors are in Vankleek Hill Saturday night then return home Sunday afternoon to host the Metcalfe Jets. St-Isidore Aigles The St-Isidore Aigles outscored the Metcalfe Jets 5-4 at home Sunday night, October 14. No game details were available at press time. The Bytown Royals host St-Isidore October 19 then the Vankleek Hill Cougars are at the St-Isidore Arena Sunday night, October 21.
The Clarence Creek Castors added two more wins over the mid-October wee- kend to their season victory total. They edged out the Gatineau Hull-Volant 4-3 in Gatineau October 12 then crowned the Bytown Royals 11-3 Sunday after- noon at home. Scoring singles against Gatineau for Clarence Creek were Kyle Goodman, Patrick Lemay, Marco McCreary, and Sam Paquette. Assists came Lemay, Paquette, Matthew Clifford, and Nathan Melée. Corey Camirand guarded the Castors net. Single goals for Gatineau came from Mathieu Des Ruisseaux. Simon Hupé, Jeremy Trudeau, with goal assists from Jérémie Cardinal, Lou-Félix Dallaire, Denis Gratton, and Maxime Tremblay, with Marc-Olivier Bastien in the net.
