48th Annual Student Art Show More than 150 students displayed their best pieces at the 48th Annual James B. Hawkins Student Art Show. Prizes included awards for “Winning Art Department,” “Best of Show” and “Director’s Pick.” Presenting sponsor Nōssi College of Art awarded scholarships to top prizewinners. 1968: A Folsom Redemption Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center celebrated Johnny Cash’s best-known performance by presenting the exhibition 1968: A Folsom Redemption . The 31 photos in this Papillon Gallery exhibit included poignant behind-the- scenes portraits of the famed music star. Journalist Gene Beley was at the 1968 concert and presented a riveting Artist Talk at Monthaven. Attributes of a Visionary The renowned contemporary artist Kevin “Kre8” Vigil was the featured artist for Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center’s Fifth Annual Moonlight & Magnolias gala fundraiser. Kre8 first gained prominence as a graffiti and tattoo artist. As a painter, his style is a blend of modern-contemporary abstract and surrealism with elements of pop and street art.
