Average room rates for April 2017 were also on the up with a state wide increase $8.11 per room compared to April 2016 ($167.52 to $175.63). The Northern region experienced the largest increase of $15.58 per room ($144.50 to $160.07) followed by the North West who had a $6.40 increase ($130.32 to $136.72) closely followed by the South who experienced a $6.22 increase ($187.58 to $193.80). The state’s average annual room rate (May 2016 to April 2017) also had an increase of $2.88 ($169.82 to $172.70) compared to the previous 12 month period. The state also had an increase in average yield of $9.40 compared to April 2016 ($132.40 to $141.81). All three regions experienced increases with the South having the largest gain of $14.18 ($156.75 to $170.93) followed by the North with an increase of $12.74 ($114.57 to $127.32) and the North West had a small increase of $0.58 compared to April 2016 ($85.67 to $86.25). The overall average annual yield for the period May 2016 to April 2017 was $131.71 compared to $128.52 compared to the previous 12 month period. This was an average increase of $3.19.
