DID YOU KNOW

PURPOSE • This is the first article your reader will see, so get their attention. • Think about what will intrigue them to further read the newsletter.

Most people read our newsletters in this order: • TOP OF PAGE 4 (INSIDE THIS ISSUE) • BOTTOM OF PAGE 4

WHAT TO INCLUDE • Community & local events. • Compelling/intriguing articles. • Humorous topics. • Personal/industry targeted pieces.

• PAGE 1 • PAGE 2 • PAGE 3

Most newsletters we create are self-mailers (no envelope).

WHAT TO AVOID • Recipes — there’s a better spot for these inside.

If the newsletter is mailing in an envelope, the “Inside This Issue” should go on page 1.

• Ads/Coupons — they make the newsletter look like junk mail. • Sudoku answers — these are better on the bottom of page 3.

The bottom of page 3 is the least read portion of a 4-page newsletter.

The majority of our clients’ newsletters have a custom name. Consider using a play on words, alliteration, or rhyme to give your newsletter a catchy name.
