PUBLIC PARKING: Copenhagen is divided into Tariff zones and time restricted zones. The further you get away from the city the cheaper it becomes to park. Parking is free during weekends from Saturday 5pm until Monday 8am and as well as on public holidays however there may be time restrictions so its worth checking the street signs. You can pay for parking by street machines using your Bank card. Alternatively, you can download one of several parking apps to help pay for parking one example would be https://apcoaflow.apcoa. dk/ and to find out more about parking and prices please visit https://www.kk.dk/parkering. Below you will the prices and times for each zone. PUBLIC TRANSPORT Denmark boasts an efficient public transport system. Most Danes use Rejsekort, an electronic ticketing system, for traveling by train, bus, and metro. You can purchase a Rejsekort card that suits your needs. The easiest option is the city pass, available as ‘City Pass Small’ or ‘City Pass Large’, valid for 24, 48, 72, 96, or 120 hours. Alternatively, you can consider the Copenhagen Card, which offers free access to various attractions and unlimited transport in the Capital region. Detailed instructions for purchasing and using these cards can be found on the Copenhagen Card website.
EMERGENCY INFORMATION
It’s important to have a list of emergency contacts on hand. Here are some that might be useful:
EMERGENCY NUMBERS
Emergency Services (Police, Fire, Medical):
112 114
Non-Emergency Police: •rish Embassy in Denmark:
+45 35 47 32 00
DENTIST
Dental care is state subsodised in Denmark, you can find a dentist close to your location by using the link https://www.tandlaegeforeningen.dk/til-patienter/find-en- tandlaegeklinik-eller-tandlaegevagt/find-en-tandlaegeklinik/ .
DOCTOR
You are automatically assigned a doctor when you obtain a CPR number in Denmark. When you receive your Yellow Health Card (sygesikringsbevis), you can see the name, address and telephone number of the doctor you are assigned to. Before you go to your doctor, you need to call and make an appointment or use an online booking system. Remember to bring your Yellow Health Card (sundhedskort) when you visit your doctor.
8
CPR CARD AND BANKING
CIVIL REGISTRATION NUMBER (CPR): A CPR is a Ten-digit number which uniquely identifies each resident in Denmark. Once you are registered in the CPR System you will receive a yellow health card called a Sundhedskort. This gives you access to medical treatment, allows you to open a bank account, pay taxes, access health insurance and do everything that involves interaction with government agencies and can take 4 weeks to arrive. You can apply for your CPR number in person at the international citizen service office in person in Copenhagen and online at https://lifeindenmark.borger.dk or you can apply online at https://international.kk.dk/live/cpr-registration-and-documents/cpr-number
Ardmac staff will help you apply upon arrival for your CPR.
CURRENCY The currency in Denmark is the Danish Krone. The conversion rate may vary, so it’s advisable to check it before your departure. Typically it tracks the euro around 7.44 dkk to 1 euro. DANISH BANK ACCOUNT: To open a bank account, you will need your CPR number which you will have on your yellow health card, photo ID and proof of address (which will also be on your Health card). For ease of payment when commencing with Ardmac please ensure you set up a revolut account for payroll purposes.
MOBILE SERVICE
DANISH MOBILE SERVICE: Since 2015 the four main operators (TDC/YOU SEE, Telia Denmark, Telenor Denmark & 3 Denmark) have ceased their prepaid operators and focus solely on Subscribers/post-paid customers which is an option to you. As a result, those wanting to use prepaid SIM cards have to deal with the country’s mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO’s). The three main prepaid operators are Lyca mobile, Lebara mobile and Oister. Oister requires your CPR number to register your new sim, so you are best either picking Lebara or Lyca mobile starting off. Lebara sim cards are free at lebara outlets or 50DKK in supermarkets, gas stations and 7-Eleven. The starter kit comes with 10DKK credit. Lycamobile Sim Cards: Are handed out for free at Copenhagen airport, although you have to top up immediately or for 30DKK in gas stations, 7-eleven and supermarkets. Oister sim cards: Are sold for 30DKK (starter credit) or 100 DKK (data only sim card) but remember you need your CPR number. (if you have an ARDMAC work phone you will be able to put your Danish sim card in this phone meaning you will have your new number ready to go! Just remember you will be able to pick a cheap phone and a sim in almost any supermarkets, gas stations or shop across Copenhagen and at the airport.
