Abesco’s Fireclamp prevents fire
spread via cables T he Abesco Fireclamp range of CT120 and CT240 Cable Transit devices are designed to prevent the spread of fire and smoke from one compartment to another where electrical, data and communication cables penetrate through separating walls and floors. These fully retro ttable devices do not require the use of putties, sealants or coatings and can accommodate few or many cables – even up to full-size cable baskets. Fireclamp® Cable Transits are round, square or rectangular powder-coated steel sleeves with an inner lining of specially formulated intumescent material. When exposed to approximately 150C the intumescent expands to many times its original volume, sealing off any voids to prevent the passage of re. Lighting ‘no longer viable’ as Eaton closes Doncaster plant O ne of the UK’s biggest lighting factories will switch off for good due to pressure on commercial lighting sector margins. Eaton is quitting the mains lighting market in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and closing down the 50,000 sq m former Cooper Lighting and Safety plant in Doncaster, which it took over in 2012. Luminaires for commercial, retail, education and industrial applications are designed and manufactured at the site,
which employs 390 people. Some 300 jobs are set to go, with the remaining 90 transferring to the emergency lighting operation that will continue on a separate location.
