Irene Clar could not resist the lure of art. She has degrees in science, physical therapy, and also fine art from the University of Alberta. Her main focus is painting, both acrylic

The Drawing Studio is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, creative learning organization that brings art and the benefits of creating art to the entire community. The Drawing Studio offers affordable fee-based and free classes and workshops, hosts events and exhibits, and fosters awareness of the positive effects of creativity on individuals. The mission is to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to embrace art practice as a pathway to person growth and healthy community. PCOA and The Drawing Studio proudly partner to feature original work by older artists in Pima County in Never Too Late , celebrating and showcasing the creativity of older adults in our community.

Irene delights in experiencing the color and pattern of far-reaching cultures and places. Two month-long trips to China led to several village market paintings. Those common threads of color, pattern and textiles have inspired her paintings for nearly 40 years. She has found beauty in the people and places around the globe from North Africa

The work featured on this issue’s cover, Kimono, Serigraph, 20 x 14. (full image above) to India, South America to the Alaskan coast. People are united by their creative responses to similar design problems.
