This course is designed to help the student become proficient in the tasks of developing and communicating biblical truth. Students will acquire and integrate the essential exegetical principles needed to interpret Scripture in a logically coherent and theologically consistent manner. Students will learn and practice methods for effectively communicating biblical research through homiletic delivery. +SPCH 3211 Ministry Communication for Women Ct, 3 credit hours This course is a survey of the basic principles which form the foundation for effective biblical communication among women. It emphasizes specific designing, developing, and delivering of talks for women. Communication skills and techniques as well as platform decorum will be considered. This course will provide the student with pulpit experience through actual preaching. He will receive constructive evaluation from the professor, from visiting preachers, and from his peers. He will become more conversant with the philosophy of preaching and the personal qualifications of the preacher. Prerequisite: SPCH 3311 Note—For men only TEACHING ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE +TESL 2031 Structure of the English Language L, Ct, 3 credit hours This course is a survey of the important structure, grammar, and syntax of the English language that is essential for non-native speakers to know. The course will teach idiosyncrasies of each language group and how that affects learning English. A variety of techniques used in teaching language structure will be presented. Prerequisite: ENGL 1011

SPEECH SPCH 2011 Fundamentals of Speech L, 3 credit hours
As an introduction to public speaking, this course provides theory and practice in extemporaneous speaking. Class lectures cover presentation style, speech organization, gestures, facial expression, diaphragmatic breathing, and vocal emphasis. Student speeches provide opportunity for practice and critique of various kinds of speeches.
