YMIN 4122 Building Partnerships in Youth Ministry Ct, 3 credit hours The course is designed to help students realize the importance of fostering godly partnerships in ministry and the commitment required to initiate and enhance them. Special attention will be placed upon exposing undergraduates to a variety of relationships that exist within ministry. Students will learn the value of effectively communicating the gospel in all aspects of their relationships. Through completion of course work, fieldwork, and personal mentoring, students will demonstrate their ability to build and implement the relationship skills critical to youth ministry. Learners will be challenged to develop Christian character and personal integrity in all areas of their lives while serving and leading others within a ministerial context.

2. Youth Ministry Para-Church Internship This internship course provides students with an

immersive, hands-on opportunity to apply their learning within the dynamic context of a recognized para-church ministry. Typically completed during the summer before the senior year, students are to work under the mentorship of an experienced ministry leader while maintaining accountability to the course professor. Students will engage in a structured checklist of ministry experiences, including counseling, teaching, preaching, planning, visitation, and discipling, tailored to the unique environment of a para-church organization. Through this process, they will analyze the specific challenges of para-church ministry, evaluate their own effectiveness, and apply practical strategies for impactful leadership. Requiring a minimum of 15 hours per week over 8 weeks, this course equips students to develop and demonstrate essential ministry skills, preparing them for leadership roles in diverse ministry settings. 3. Youth Ministry Camp Administration Internship This internship course equips students with hands-on experience in the organization and administration of a resident Christian camp. Students are placed under the mentorship of a camp director at a mutually approved camp, typically during a summer before their senior year. Under the supervision of the camp director and reporting to the course professor, students will engage in a structured checklist of responsibilities that encompass various aspects of camp administration. Through active participation, they will analyze the operational and spiritual dynamics of camp leadership, evaluate their own performance and growth, and apply best practices for creating meaningful, Christ-centered camp experiences. Students will synthesize their learning in a final summary report, while the camp director provides monthly evaluations of their performance, ensuring comprehensive feedback and development. This course prepares students to design and lead impactful camp ministries.

YMIN 4144 Youth Ministry Internship Ct, 3 credit hours

Checklist based experience with weekly reflections and a culminating “notebook” or collected resources and conversation summaries based upon the chosen context of the internship. Preferred Summer before Senior Year. Prerequisite of either YMIN 2021 Overseeing in Youth Ministry or YMIN 2031 Philosophies and Programs in Youth Ministry. Students will choose one of the following. 1. Youth Ministry Local Church Internship This internship course offers students an immersive, hands-on opportunity to integrate and apply their learning in a real-world ministry context. Typically completed during the summer before the senior year, students are to work under the mentorship of a veteran youth pastor in a local church while maintaining accountability to the course professor. Students will engage in a structured checklist of ministry experiences, including counseling, teaching, preaching, planning, visitation, and discipling. Through this process, they will analyze the practical challenges of ministry, evaluate their own effectiveness in various roles, and apply best practices learned in class. Requiring a minimum of 15 hours per week over 8 weeks, this course prepares students to develop and demonstrate skills necessary for dynamic, Christ-centered youth leadership.
