Professor

Outstanding research productivity and national recognition of research achievements and self-sufficiency in support of funding for salary, personnel and laboratory expenses is assumed at the full-Professor level. It is expected that all workload requirements identified at the Associate Professor have and will continue to be met. It is also anticipated that he/she will have achieved expert recognition in his/her field of research and will serve as a reviewer for publications and/or grants, participate in symposia and conferences and serve as a resource for information and advice. In addition, full Professors are expected to take leadership roles within the department and college in his/her discipline or area of expertise. Supervision of laboratory personnel, graduate students, research assistants and technicians is expected.

In order to be promoted to the Professor rank, completion and acceptance of a Triological Society thesis is strongly encouraged.

NON-TENURED TRACK: Educator Track SEE College of Medicine Faculty Guidelines

NON-TENURED TRACK - FIELD SERVICE TRACK

Faculty members in the Field Service Track are involved in teaching and support of research or patient (clinical) care. Faculty in this track perform essential roles in the education, teaching and research programs of the department, but may hold degrees such as Master of Social Work, Master of Audiology, or Ph.D. degrees in either science or other disciplines. These individuals contribute in special ways to departmental excellence in education, research and patient care. Ordinarily, Field Service Faculty will have fewer commitments to departmental administration. On the average, it is expected that a faculty member in the Field Service Track will spend 80% to 95% in clinical care activities and 5% to 20% on teaching and relevant clinical research activities.

Instructor

Individuals at the Instructor level in the Field Service Track have recently completed their training in a specialized area and/or have limited experience in the application of their training. Development of their skill level is of primary importance at this level.
